HELP!!!! Road tar!!!

I hate when they do all this stupid road construction. Now I have this road tar all over my car in every corner and crack. Has anyone had to remove this before? Any suggestion will help thanks guys!!!! And gals!! Also I noticed it when I washed the car and it did nothing to remove it at all. I could scratch it off but that's not a good idea I think!!!

They sell bug and tar remover stuff at auto supply stores, but they are of limited value in my opinion. Try picking up a can of WD-40. Spray it on a small towel you don't mind ruining. GENTLY use the WD40 on the towel to remove the tar. Afterwards make sure to apply wax to the areas where the tar was removed from. You may need to use a mild pre-wax cleaner to remove the residue from the WD40. This should do the trick

Turtle Wax makes some bug and tar remover. I have had a lot of success with it...even on my mom's white paint. It comes in a metal canister.

I use "Goo Gone" which seems to take it right off after a little gentle rubbing. Re-wax the areas also, and once re-waxed those pesky tar spots will come off easier too.

Check out Stoners Tarminator. You can get that at your local parts store chain such as Pep Boys, Kragen,etc...

any petroleum based solvent should take it right off, even gasoline.
but it'll strip any wax off as well, so do what's been suggested here and rewax those areas.

I don't know how much tar you have on your car, but The Wax Shop polish works pretty well at removing road tar.

Nu-Finish liquid car polish works good. I would try that before using goo-gone. I tried goo gone on pine pitch, but it didn't work very well. Just dab a good amount of the liquid on the spots or area and leave it there for a few minutes, don't let it dry, then rub it out.
