You would get beat to 80mph 9 out of 10 times on the street 9 out of 10 times if your car is stock as well.
Dude I can care less what u think.
I know I raced Auto 2002 Maxima and Altima and had no problems pulling on them. You don't have to be modded to beat them. Of course if you can't drive 6-speed you can loose to anyone. Anyways why I am even arguing with you about it. Not like you have the car or you know what it can do.

I never raced G35 yet, but I am sure I will have no problems.
On the other hand your 2000 Max might.

Hey Emax, how much torque do you think G35 puts down? I bet the exact same number as Maxima.

My friend is going to dyno his new 350Z soon and we will see what his car really puts down. The car is in the shop now after he hit a curb.

I am really confused what this 3.5VQ really makes in different cars now. Nissan is using it in many cars and numbers are all different.

I never said you could not beat a 2k2 auto Maxima. But I highly doubt you could beat a 2k2 auto max/ 3.5 altima to 80mph by 3-4 cars if they hit wot first. I find that very hard to believe. Your going to get rocked by a G35 with a half decent driver who actually launches not like your other two "races" Oh and yes I have a 2000 Maxima and I also have a 1999 540 with a few mods which would outperform your mighty maxima in every single respect except gas milage. Oh and the 2000 Maxima will be seeing Turbo in his engine bay as well.

PS What are your consistant track times with you Maxima? Please include your R/T times and PSI in front tires? You must be a super duper driver?

540 is really nice car, I love it. Do you have 6-speed version?

I have not gone to the track yet, very busy. My friend just got a new 350Z. So he wants to run at the track, we might go before it snows here.

I just don't understand why a properly driven 6-speed Max, can't beat an Auto G35 or Maxima or Altima?
You know that they all put down pretty much the same numbers. Don't go by the numbers that Nissan puts up.

I guess G35 sedan is SO much faster than Maxima or Altima that it will blow my doors off right(unless you were talking about your Maxima )? That is what you have been saying in all your posts. Good that you think so, but I disagree.

So you've never driven one, or even ran against one; but you are so sure your FWD notchy 6-speed with stock Craptenza RE92s and an intake will win a stoplight race against a RWD 5-speed auto with similar weight and even better HP and Torque numbers?

How do you figure? I mean how can you be so certain?

Do yourself a favor and DRIVE one; then come back here and edit all your post accordingly.

I was the same as you before, I really was. But one test drive made me a believer. On the street they really shine. They bite the road right from the start; no wheel hop, no wheel spinning. And the VQ on it wasn't even broken in yet!

This thread is just so fun. I am loving it.

Well how can you be so certain that I won't beat a G35, if I easily pulled on Auto Max and Alti.

Your missing the point. A G35 is not necessarily faster by absolute best times. BUT a G35 will be more consistant on the street than a 6spd Max. ie. easier to launch with auto, rwd for better more consistant launches, no missed shifts, out brake a 6spd, out handle a 6spd.

Riiiiight, and that makes sense.

So because you driven both cars that means that 6-speed Maxima will not beat G35 sedan

Thanks for making me finally understand it.

Exactly! Well said.

There is no way he is putting 4 cars on a 2k2 auto Max by 80mph with even starts let alone with the auto going WOT first. Aside from that he shouldn't compare a G35 to a 2k2 auto Max.

After you've driven both, you'll understand too.

I was the same as you, I really was. It wasn't the people like me and Kuhmo who changed me; it was a 15 minute test drive in one.

OK guys good this discussion is great but damn this has gone to far. I had a little 5 min run in with a G and this ended up being a 4-page discussion. Guys I shut down at 60 mph if I kept going we don't know what the outcome would have been.

This is what happened we both jumped off, he got in front of me so I used the opportunity to draft a little. When I saw and opening I change lanes and he proceeded to cut he off. So he never give me a chance to get beside him. So once he cut me off I notice that he didn't know how to drive I was like "OK this it I am not killing myself tonight". So to tell the truth I believe if he gave me a chance to get next to him I would have got him.

This was not my first run with the G35 and the last time I won by 1 car. So I would really like to go up against a G at a track just to see what would really happen.

Nice informative post for a change.

I like how those two guys test drove it and now they think that car will blow doors of Maxima. Beat it 9 out of 10 times in the street race. This is just to funny. And neither of them actually raced it. Funny stuff.

Hey soopermax02 I edit my post just for you. Enjoy.

I would think by now we would stop saying "well it is a RWD car". Yes RWD car are known for there better handling but it all comes down to driver skills with G35 vs. Max.

G35 = more torque, RWD, 1 more gear and 5 more HP.

A lot of people might not believe this but with a FWD car you have more weight over the drive wheels like the transaxle and engine which result in improved traction which also mean less wheel spin (if You know how to drive). Remember Traction is the amount of force the tires have on the road. So less weight = less traction. So on a nice dry road a RWD car might have more wheel spin due to less weight over the wheels that works. But because weight transfers to the back under acceleration some of that missing weight is made up for. The reason Maximas perform so well on straights and car like the BWM 3 series enjoy the twisties are because RWD car are better when it comes to accelerating out of corners because of lateral traction or is it lateral grip?

So to sum it up a Max is like 65/35 (let me know if I am wrong) a BMW 3 is like 50/50. When the Max accelerates a percentage of that 65 is moved to the back, which gives us a ratio closer to 56/44. So with most of the weight still up front over the drive wheels we should still get just as good of a launch as a RWD car if the troque steer doesn't kill us.
Well said! Its being proven that FWD auto Maximas and Altimas are putting down times nearly as good or as good as the auto Rwd G35 from personal accounts that I have seen for both Max and G35 its driver dependent. RWD really doesnt mean much once the car is on a roll at all. Just dont expect the G35C to be even that much faster judging by the times it produced recently and it has 27 more hp than the sedan. All of these cars are similiar in straight line performance and the Autos definately have closed the gap on the manuals for 2002/3 G35/Maxima/Altima and even 350z for that matter.

Agreed. It's the "from a dead stop at a street light" scenario where it shines. NO wheel hop, NO craptenza RE92s.

You know, test driving a car will actually give you tremendous insight into how it will perform.

Lucky you...

For the record I'll guess 14.7....

but with a 60' under 2.2s.

If you can drive decently, 14.5
cold day, 14.3 don't think you'll run any faster. (hope you do though

Take out all the crap in the trunk including spare. Your best time is always nice but your consistant times should be interesting.

How to explain.....

I have Maxima 2002 SE 6spd and 2003 G35 in my family. My sister bought the G35 after my Maxima.

Maxima is fast to drive if you have good control on gas and clutch, reduce the loss between shift. But someday you leg is just not working as you want. Turn corner?? Na..

G35 is auto that means the shift process is not controllable. Fun in corner. Can be very fast if you don't mind to pay for the gas.

Which one is faster ??

I don't think either one can pass the other easily.
I feel the manual shift can push the Maxima forward with torque, plus feedback from the car.
G35 will downshift automatically and drain the $gas, less feedback but also less headache. I can concentrate to just control the steering wheel.

The power and traction is not the factor to determine who will win.
IMO, who can master the control is the winner.

This is a good question from my friend, do you think Michael Schumacher can drive a CIVIC SI to pass both Maxima and G35 (or any car) in any situation?

My answer, I believe he can. (After I saw his foot movement in TV !!)

Not in a drag race. On a roadcourse? YES!!! If the other car was a Maxima or G35.

The G35 has a auto-manual transmission (don't know what InfinitI calls it) So you if you put it in a high gear it won't drain as much gas.
Also you can take a corner and keep it in second (unlike autos which upshift automatically) In my opinion its the best of both worlds (nothing like BMW's SMG on their M3, but a step closer to driving a manual) Im going to convince my dad to get a G
