Nothing Comptech or OBX headers won't fix.

Yeah, I hope headers do help.

I ran my friend's stock TL-S and it wasn't even close. I really thought that his VTEC will give me a better run especially when we ran on the highway.

By how much TYPICALLY?

I've seen magazines go both ways, but the CL-S is lighter therefore SHOULD be faster, right?

From the times they post on both forums the CL-S has the faster times...not including the 6sp CL-S of course.

That's just because the CL-S guys mod a lot more and go to the track a lot more, whereas the TL-S guys, in general, seem to be much less interested in modding, and racing whether it be street or track.

The two cars are IDENTICAL as far as drivetrain goes, and the TL-S is only 50 lb more than a CL-S. When you're talking about 3500+ lb cars, 50 lb isn't going to make any sort of measureable difference.

And yes, 6spd is a different story

Hi! That's my car's dyno btw.

Sorry to revive a dead thread but there was an interesting technical discussion going on before it became an nissan vs. acura thread.

That dyno was taken on stillen day while my car was still bone stock. The stillen guys saw fit to let my car sit running in the hot sun for a good 20 minutes before they put it on the dyno. Not only that but the guy claimed that I didn't need a fan in front of my intake because I wasn't "boosted". Yeah right.

Either way it's a perfectly average dyno for a stock 2k2 max. Since it was printed 'portrait' style on 8.5X11 inch paper, the graph is skewed differently than most that you see. Therefore any variations on the horizontal axis seem more dramatic.

True the power does start to drop off around 6000 rpm, however still makes usable power till redline. This combined with tachometer innacuracy, means that shifting at redline (6200 rpm in reality) will land you right in the meaty portion of the powerband at 5200-5300 rpm through the next gear. For an auto you may even want to shift higher because the gear ratios are longer thus rpms drop more between gears.

There is real life evidence for this since while on the track, I ran my best time of 14.4 when shifting PAST redline. On runs where I shifted earlier, I was hardly able to break into the 14's.

By no means is the 2k2+ max a top end screamer like a vtec acura, but to make best use of your (relatively flat) peak powerband, you need to shift late-ish. (I feel like my car gained a sh!*load of topend when I put on my intake, so that may have been a limiting factor.)

SteVTEC: no offense and I'm sure you already know this, but it's quite normal for torque to begin to drop off at 4800rpm and drop off completely 5000rpm+ since horsepower is calculated hp=(ft.lbf*5252)/rpm.. Which is why all proper dyno graphs should cross at around 5000rpm.
