Header wrap/jacket?

Has anyone try the header wrap/jacket/blanket on their car's engine? It supposes to reduce the heat in the engine bay by up to 70%, thus translate to gain in hp (approximately 1% for normal aspirated engine and 2% for turbo/SC)...according to Jegs catalog.

Hmm.. wrapping the entire header? I'm wondering if it will do anything to the header itself. I don't know if you recall, but a year or two ago, people were wrapping the flex part of the Y-pipe to reduce that annoying "whizzing" sound (I took out and put back in my Y-pipe THREE times because I thought it was a leak!). In doing this though, they were saying that it would wear out the Y-pipe faster. I know the header is just a solid piece, but some mods (others will argue ALL mods) help the car perform better, but at a risk of pre-maturely wearing out the car.

I know that heat is a major problem w/the 3.5L...and the header is one of the source that heat up the engine bay. The assumption that a cooler engine bay will produce more hp kinda make sense especially if you have an aftermarket intake?

I do see the HP increase, especially since they already sell shields for intakes, but I was just wondering if it would cause the headers or other parts to wear pre-maturely or damage something else (if they heat isn't released to the engine bay, where DOES it go? and can that increased heat cause any other damages?).

My statements are unfounded since I have to experience in this particular matter. I'm just mouthing off my thoughts.
