02 sensor problems?
02 sensor problems?
Last night I was coming home from a night of revelry watching PVD
when I noticed my SES light come on.
After work, I'm going to Autozone today to have the code pulled but I'm assuming that it's one of the 02 sensors. I don't think it's the MAF because the car still feels fine and it didn't go into limp mode (this is assuming the car always goes into limp mode if its a blown MAF,
please correct me if I'm wrong)
Just a few questions:
1)Let's say it is the 02 sensor......is it safe to drive around?
2)Again, assuming it's the 02 sensor will the code tell me exactly which one? I think there are 3 or 4 02 sensors on the car, right?
3)Other than the 02 sensor going bad or a blown MAF, what other possible problems could be causing the SES light to come on?
your help would be greatly appreciated....

"I don't think it's the MAF because the car still feels fine and it didn't go into limp mode (this is assuming the car always goes into limp mode if its a blown MAF"
Try starting the car when the engine cold, then rev it. does it rev normally?
When I had a blown maf (with SES)it took about 3 weeks for the car to feel funny (Not being able to go past 4000k rpm). then when I'd start it with a cold engine it would sound like its gargling when reved and sometimes wouldnt go past 2500 rpm.
If P0100 is pulled youll need to change the
air filter element (part #:16546-0z000)
and
air meter assembly (PN: 22680-2y001)
Autozone does not carry air meter assemblys. Try calling DaveB.
SES can mean a number of things, if the above occurs its a MAF malfunction, if not it still could be or may not be...
You'll know what to do when you pull the codes
is it safe to drive around? I think so.
pick up a haynes manual while youre at autozone, it will become your maxima bible
