3 Dead in Queens Maxima Crash. Speeding, possibly Raching Nov 5

3 people die this morning in a fiery crash when the driver a 4th maxima lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole. See the story and the video. It said, the maxima was possibly racing. 3 young lives lost due to high speed driving. Guys, girls.. I dont know how else to say it ... save the high speed for the track! The story here: The story in Newsday

no need to sticky.. but something to think about is that if he was racing, then he might have been modded.. if he was modded, he was probably a member..

That's horrible to hear, but there's a lesson to be learned in this about street racing.

A bit OT, but I remember awhile back, my brother who's in the NYPD told me a story of a women who was driving a max late at night took a wrong turn and went against traffic on a service road. At the sametime this happened, cops were chasing a getaway robbery car and as the car came up the service ramp, it collided with the lady in the max, not only killing her, but splitting her Max almost in half.

Hard to believe yes, but anything's possible.

i saw the one accident on tv monday morning. i thought it was a 5th gen, couldnt tell the accident was so bad. but the witnesses were saying they were trying to get the people out of the car but were stuck and then it went up in flames. that happened at 4:30 am and they were still trying to get the bodies out of the car at 7:30

depressing $hit

Ok, I'm not one to normally comment on these kind of posts but did NyMaxedOut read the article?? The article says nothing about racing. In fact, the article goes out of it's way to explain that this area is a particularly dangerous intersection and that accidents occur there regularly. Yes the article says the Max might have been speeding but it didn't say the car was going any faster than your normal freeway speeder. All this article tells us is this off ramp is dangerous and to slow down when taking it. You could even perhaps infer from it, take all off ramps slowly, but that's about it.

thats horiable. i race people on the street sometimes, and you never really stop to think that something like that could happen to us, kind of like we are invisiable and nothing bad could happen to us. well thats how i feel like anyways. i think now maybe i should drive safer... once i get my new max that is. i wonder how their familys are holding up. my prayers go out to them.

if you watch the video, many of the witnesses claim he was racing another car.

The video news clip says that it was possible that the max was racing another car. These are all just speculations for now. I'm sure the real facts will be out later.

I couldn't get the video to work. If it gives more information about the circumstances than I apologize. The article itself though makes no mention of racing.

I haven't posted this but I totalled my Maxima after having it for only 6 months. Fortunately my insurance+gap insurance covered the loan and I was able to get a 2K3 for 3K less.

I wouldn't even attempt to race(seriously) in my Maxima without the proper suspension upgrades. I know how a Max can lose control, especially with the stock Potenzas.

Going back to Myrv.. I actually did not imply the maxima was "racing" I said "possible' and that was inferred from the video. Now, to your point.. I dont believe its possible the car was being driven at "normal" speed and the driver lost control. Normal would imply top speed 50MPH worst case scenario on city streets and you simply CANNOT do that kind of damage at that speed by slamming into a ANYTHING. Lastly, whatever the inference ... the point we all need to be careful when out on the road. Know when ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. I dont deny racing my max but I make it a rule to NEVER do it on city streets. Ever been on NYC streets? small, crowded, double parked trucks, potholes, gypsie cabs all over ... Street racing in NYC streets is like a death sentence for you or some poor innocent bystander. Again, I am not implying this poor soul was racing but highlighting a point. RIP to all 3 brethrens! MAX.ORG ONE LOVE!

Last thing, I did wreck my 94SE down in VA. Car spun about 8X before falling about 10ft down an enbankment. I got out without a scratch but the car was totalled. I was cited for 'reckless driving' but I was going 95MPH when I was talking on the phone and it fell out my hand. Without a thought, I let go of the wheel and tried to catch it. Well, needless to say I didnt

Never mind what can happen to you, how about people minding their own business obeying the laws and then end up in a serious accident because of people racing.

ok

i've been on that bridge many times..
i take it almost every day from school and hanging out in the city. i'm pretty sure i have the most experience with that area...the thing is, i saw the car and that car had to be going at a pretty fast rate to be that damaged. i dont even go 60 on that part of the bridge.
so anythign over 50 i can imagin just being wrecked.
