16.5mpg in the city....not really normal. What is your hwy mpg?

 

I have a 00 SE Auto at 41K miles with nothing besides K&N and FSTB. I consistently get ~20mpg in town and ~26mpg highway at 75mph. My drive to work is 1.5 miles so I take many many short trips. My .02 is that something's wrong if all you get is 16.5. Tranny probs can contribute to bad mileage, along with a million other things like running rich, etc. I'd get it checked out.

I have a 2k auto and i drive mostly city and i get about 275 miles per tank on average. Now i have a CAI and it seems lower And i only use 93 grade gas.

 

2k auto here...I get 23 and 26 or 27 usually. Combined city/hiway driving.

I'd say theres something going on with your bad mileage...what I dont know...

 

How many gallons does our tank hold?

 

i usually only get like 17 mpg.. if im lucky ill get 20.. usually i get 270-280 out of 15.5 gallons..

i drive a 2k1 auto max. have u guys noticed that when you fill up its only 15.5 gallons not 18.5? is there an additional three that is used as like a backup or something in case ? so they warn u that its Empty at 15.5 but in reality u still have 3 gallons? I've always wondered but ive never tried to drive it till it goes to empty empty

 

I get about 26 mpg mostly on the highway with my 2K GLE, alot of cruise control, speed mostly 60-65. I ususally average about 350-370 miles on a tank. NO jack rabbit starts in the city, really helps.

 

WOW! My max has never saw 300 on the odo! haha

 

I get between 270 & 300 miles for mostly city driving, A/C effects this. On highway, between 26 and 28 depending on A/C and season.

Cooler weather is better, no A/C and cooler air for the OSCAI with the K&N filter.

 

hmmm....my supercharged 2k GLE is 20 - 21 mpg with a 8:1 FMU....and I boost everyday. (1 tank will go 320, highway miles)

before the blower installed, I got 23- 24mpg

do u have any CEL?

 

I'm getting around 23 to 24 MPG, mostly freeway driving. It's less, of course, when I add in more city driving. There have been times when, after doing lots of city driving, that my gas milage only gets into the upper teens.

 

I usually see between 18 and 20 mpg city (about 275-300 miles per tank). Usually about 25-27 mpg highway (about 400 miles per tank). The farthest I ever drive is from here (Tennessee) to my sister's house in Columbus, Oh, which is exactly 401 miles away. My gas light comes on about 10 miles from her house, and again, 10 miles from home. One tank, each way! Perfect for me. Oh, and I tend toward faster speeds on the highway (usually around 77-80 mph), and driving quickly in town (not much over the speed limit, but I like to be in front of other cars!).

 

22 City/Highway. Made a 365 mile road trip last weekend, 14.2 gallons , 25.7 mpg (Ave speed of 78mph).

btw, do fuel injectors such as STP (black bottle) help improve the mileage in anyway?

 

fuel injectors cleaners u meant? yes they do...but in my book, the best way to save gasoline is to rev her up slowly for all gear....

 

22 mpg city and 29 highway, 91 octane.

 

Yes they can if the injectors are dirty or clogged. Stick with Chevron's Techron product or Redline Fuel System cleaner after an oil change.

5w-30 synthetic oil such as Amsoil or Mobil 1 can help as well. Driving habit are the greatest factor in fuel mileage.
