Another *interesting* article about the 2k3 Maxima

After more than a year after release you'd think they'd get the facts straight

From ZWire, dated November 6, 2002

All three Maxima versions come with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that puts out a healthy 260 horsepower
The 4-speed automatic box has tall gearing, with first reaching 45 mpg and second topping about 80
(mpg? LOL)

This produces a 0- to 60-mph time of 8 seconds
It's near flawless and equal to anything coming out of Germany these days.
Premium gas is suggested, but regular can work for slow drivers or winter driving if needed.

About five years ago, Nissan cars were solid and reliable but didn't exactly create excitement. Not with dull styling and underpowered engines.
underpowered? nissan has always had more power than its competition.

"0-60 in 8 seconds" and "...equal to anything coming out of Germany these days."... Hmmm, don't know of any thing coming from Germany capable of going 0-60 in sec.; unless they're talking about the interior.

remember that the maxima is a sub-$30,000 car. so it does not compete with Audi, BMW or Mercedes-Benz (it MIGHT compete with audi and BMW NOW but definitely not in the last 5 years). so that leaves VW as nissan's German competitor and what has VW produced as far as HP in the last 5 years? With the Passat having 190 HP (same as 4th gen maximas and 32 HP less than the early 5th gen maximas) I still maintain my original statement.
