Quick Question

So I bought an almost new to me Max a few weeks ago from CarMax and I have a question for you gurus...

How would I remove the CarMax (or I guess any dealership) logo from the trunk lid?

It seems to be just painted or stuck on from a template. I want to make sure to remove it without damaging the paint underneath. If the only thing I can do is sand it and repaint, I am not going to go through all that trouble.

Thanks for the help in advance.

i think it might just be a sticker. try heating it *slightly* with a hairdryer and try to peel it off.

That is probably just latex and if it is warm enough outside, it should just peel off. If it is not warm enough, you could try using a heat gun, or a hair drier to take it off. If you use a heat gun, you need to be careful not to ruin the paint.

If a sticker, try Goo Gone. Let it soak for a while and see what happens.

Use a razor blade, or puddy knife.

Thanks for all the responses and so quickly. I have read about this Goo Gone stuff. It seems like it will work but I want to make sure it won't hurt the paint in any way. We all know about how "tough" the Max paint is. Does anyone have any experience with this product?

It is definitly latex and all you need is something to heat it with, like a hair drier, or heat gun. Just be careful not to heat it too much. Don't even bother with the goo gone.

I have not tried it on car paint but I have used it on alot of other things. Works great. I would try it on a small area just to make sure that it does not damage it.

Re: Quick Question

I had the same thing on my car.
Here are the steps to do it.
1. Do not cut your nails for 3-4 days
2. Take your index finger and stick the nail right under the sicticker (you might use some force, so hit the gym for few days)
3. Well there is no number 3 the sticker is gone ait it
J/K
The is what I did and it worked.

no need for goo gone. but just for the record, goo gone wont hurt the paint if you use it. just be sure to wash it off afterward just in case.

ask them to remove it when you get the car. they should do it, if they don't want to just walk away, and they'll probably then do it.

i told my dealership to take off their stickers from the car. they took the car to detail and they removed it cleanly, no troubles.
