Gauge swap

Hi,I'm just installed 2000 SE gauges in my 2001 GXE and now the mileage is wrong.I know you can swap the circuit boards on the 2000's but the 2001 board is way different and will not swap.Anyone know of a way to change the mileage? The gauges fit and work ok just the mileage difference.Any help would be much appreciated.

The milage is set in the cluster itself. In order to get the right mileage the dealer needs to set it from the factory and you have to sign all this paperwork. If you did a swap, you get the new mileage. Hope you don't sell this one soon because you'll be lyin for good or ill to someone

Does the cars computer keep track of mileage also or just the cluster itself?

Re: Re: Re: Gauge swap

If you have the 2K SE Gauges now and had the 2K1 GXE then the circuit boards will swap fine. Just do the swap and yu'l retain your miles. I unfortunately have a 2K1 GLE and I swapped out with a 2K1SE.. The circuit boards don't fit.. But GXE-->SE is fine... Just unscrew the board off the cluster.. Straight up swap..

No Screws

My 2K1 Cluster has no screws on the back of the circuit board. The 2000 cluster has the screws and comes apart easy.Where the screws are on the 2k cluster there are soldered joints on the 2k1.How can you swap if there are no screws to remove.Even the black cover over the circuit board has no screws only cliped on the outside edges.I'll take a picture of them both tomorrow and shoe the diffrence.

Mine just went from 3320.0 to 22747.0
maybe I'll just wait until I get to that mileage and then put them in.

I have a problem...I just tried to do the swap - my GXE has screws and come off easy, but the new SE gauges I got are soldered in...any ideas on what I can do? The mileage on my car is 26k while the new one is 55k, I don't want to wait that long before putting these in...any help?

HMmm...maybe take it to an electronic repair shop. Maybe they can melt the solder and remove the circuit board, and then you can solder it on the GXE cluster after removing that original circuit board. That's my only guess....maybe the SE board has screw holes already (I'm thinking it should) and you can just screw it in.

If that doesn't work you wanna sell the SE cluster to me??

Are the SE gauges out of a 2001 or 2002?The 2000 has screws that hold it on and the 2001's are all soldered. The 2002 I think you can replace the whole gauge face.I myself are looking for the indiglo in lays for a 2001.If anyone knows how to reach someone that still sells them please let me know.I've tried e-mailing a couple of people from past posts that used to sell them, but have not heard back from anyone.
Thanks

The gauges are out of a 2001. I'm guessing since Dario's were a screw in deal, and that's how it worked for him. I'm going to have to look for gauges off a 2000 now...I could wait until I hit 55k on the odo, but that would be 2 years from now, and I could also just say F*ck it and put them in and have them work just fine, but I'm not sure I'm going to hold on to the car for that long to justify the hit in value the high miles will add, so I'm just going to sell these and continue my search...sigh.
