Well if what you were looking for was basic transportation, I suppose you should start crying. On the other hand, if what you were looking for was the best bang-for-the-buck sports sedan on the planet, crack open the champagne baby 'cause YOU GOT IT!

I agree with y2kse. Also consider this: next time you see a Accord ex-v6, race him. When you smoke him, then ask yourself who should be crying?

Because you got a Maxima . I had a V6 Accord before the Max...it was a nice car, but not nearly as much fun as the Max. Plus, the Max is much nicer. BTW, I got my Max, an SE with C&C + Meridian + taxes, tags, etc... everything for just under $25k

I payed 26 for my GLE which has everything except sunroof(I hate cleaning these things), Side Airbags (I didnt know much about the car, the dealer didnt explain), Traction Control (It dont snow here), and Heated Seats (Its already hot as it is down here). I think I stole the car.

To tell you the truth
24000 out the door for a GXE with C&C package seems a bit on the high side. But then, I know many stupid old people who paid almost sticker for the Maximas. (i'm not saying old people are stupid, we all will be old one day. I mean STUPID old people). Yes, for the price of a mildly equipped Maxima, you can get other import sedans that have way way more options. Like the Accords, Galants, 626, you know.

BUT,

Maxima is in a different league. Espeically if you get the 5-speed version. Maxima is the best sports sedan in our galaxy, when money is considered. No sedan, I mean NO OTHER SEDAN, can match the Maxima in terms of best bang for the buck.

I paid $20,000 flat for my GXE 5-speed with absolutley no options. If I had gotten an Accord, I could've gotten sunroof, cd player, map pockets, and some other stuff too. I dearly wish i had the sunroof. But,
I'd rather have 222 hp and the 5-speed combo. I don't care about not having any options in my car. When I redline it in first and power shift into second as my body is being pushed into the seat, DUDE! What an awesome feeling!!
I don't miss any options.

At Santa Barbara Nissan, they still tease me about being a tough negotiator...

This was in June of 2000 too... with my 96 trade in I only paid about 14000 for my new max...

Looking at some of these posts, I guess my GLE would have been a steal as well. Sunroof, heated seats, traction control, and 6cd changer: 26,950 (included taxes and all other charges).

4 months and the car has been great. No problems encountered so far.

Used deal..
I bought my 2000 SE Auto in August, used w/13K miles on it, has the older convenience package, paid $22,600.. Fair price. Seems like the Max depreciates at least as quick as the average car though. Surf E-Bay Motors from time to time and you might really get depressed. At the time of purchase the Dealer said, "It will hold its resale value at least as good as an Accord." Hmmm. But anyhow, I agreed with everyone...comparatively speaking, for the money a Max is the best deal around, and much more fun to drive than an Accord.

I paid 23,500 + tax and tag for my 2k auto max w/ C&C. Me and my mom went to purchase it and the salesman told my mom she was a very tough negotiater. They had just got that maxima in and the guy wanted us to get the one that had been there longer. MY mom said she wanted the new one and we were there for hours, literally, trying to come to an agreement. My mom even made them not charge her for the number encoding on the car and for the 5 year warranty. (Pretty impressive)

Honestly, you paid a bit too much for the car. if you went to carsdirect.com. you would have paid $22,760(GXE,auto tranny, C&C, CD-changer) This is around the price you should have paid the dealership.

But at least you know that you have one awesome car. Happy driving!

2000 Auto SE w/C&C, in Feb. I paid 23,100. They didn't have the SE w/o the C&C which is what I originally wanted. When they couldn't get the SE w/o the C&C, I offered 500 bucks more than I had negotiated for the SE w/o C&C for the SE with the C&C package and they said yes. Just got the dealer to install a new TCM today, I'm pumped.

Well, since everybody basically told you that you did get gyped, I'll tell you that you didn't. You just paid a bit more than you should have If you bought the car and are happy with it, that's all that matters. Have fun with your Max.

2000 Maxima GXE 5-speed w/ no options...not even floormats!
I paid just under $19k out the door.
Got $10,000 for my trade (1996 Civic EX).
I made out very well.

PS: I almost had to knockout my salesman cuz they threatened to take me to court cuz they say I "misrepresented" my trade...hahaha. That's their dumbass faults for not inspecting it thoroughly before giving me $10k for it...hahahahaha. FINALLY the dealership gets a taste of their own medecine. CHALK ONE UP FOR THE CONSUMER!

PPS: Don't EVER deal w/ the morons @ Rt66 Sansone Nissan in Neptune, NJ!
