Steering vibrations 60 mph

I have a 2000 GXE. Purchased it with about 21,000 miles on it a couple of years ago. I had Toyo 215-55-16s on it (original equipment). This summer those tires wore down to nearly nothing, I replaced them with Mastercraft Avenger GTs. Since that time, have noticed a definite vibration (pulsating feel)in steering wheel, especially from 60mph or faster. I have the tires balanced, rebalanced, and then balanced again with no luck. Is it the tires? Any ideas or recommendations?

are you getting it done at the same place everytime?

If it is clearly happening at certain speeds all the time, then for sure the balancing is off. I mean that when the balancing comes in play. But if it is there at all speeds and just get worse at high speeds, that is a different story.

I have actually taken it to three different shops for balancing. One of the shops used a balancer which was a little more sophisticated. Two of my tires were showing 16lbs and 20lbs of road force. I took it to another shop, and the guy indicated that the tire tread of the Mastercrafts seemed to be a harder more rougher riding tire. He recommended going with a Yokohama Avid V4. He indicated you wouldn't get the tread life of the Mastercrafts, but you would get a smoother ride.

I had a similar experience with my previous car, when I bought Futura tires from Pep Boys. I went to several different shops but none of them could balance it right.

The problem here is likely to be in CHEAP tires. You should have spent 30 more dollars and bought a brand name tires. Throw these Mastercraft tires away and get some good brand name tires, ok so you spend $250. Go to discounttiredirect.com or other websites you can save yourself some money.

Have you tried rotating your back tires with the front? Maybe one of the ones in the front is out of round..
