Intake problem?

First my Berk just recently started with an extremely high pitched whistle and I mean loud and high. Now I'm getting knocking and pinging on my 2k2. Is it time to try another brand of Intake like JWT or is it time to put the OEM intake back on and go in for a checkup? Custom Maxima is selling the JWT for $119. Is that a good price?

Why not swap the stock intake back on, see if the problem is still occurring, then decide what to do from there. The cone intake filters make that whistling noise while you drive, that's normal. You might want to check all the hose couplers and make sure they're tight. If everything checks out, try an apex'i filter and see how that works, everyone seems to like it.

Can the Apexi be cleaned since it's paper? It's extremely expensive. Would I need an adapter for it to fit? It's not a normal whistle, it's extremely loud. It doesn't sound good at WOT anymore. It sounds like it's choaking. The filter doesn't have many miles on it and I've checked all the connections thoroughly.

I'd assume it works the same as a K&N filter, which requires oiling. I guess you'd have to find an Apex'i filter with the same diameter opening as the Berk so it will fit on the Berk adapter.

As for the whistling, check connections again and make sure nothing is loose. Maybe even remove them and put them back on securely.

I'll have to do that. I just received my FrankenCar Midpipe today. I'm not impressed with the cut on the one end. Very uneven and very high school project looking. However, Steve's got a good reputation so I'll reserve judgement until it's on. I'm guessing that I'll have to reuse the existing hose on the stock resonator thingy? Has anyone had issues with the midpipe coming loose?

The Apex'i filter cannot be cleaned. It has to be replaced.

Check your vaccum lines, one is probably loose.

Be sure to look inside the midpipe at the holes. I found loose bures that I had to grind off. You don't want that in your engine.
