Who's happy with Frankencar Intake?

Ok, I've already used the search function to learn more about the Frankencar Intake, but I want to know who's really happy with it and who is not and why. For the longest time I was set on buying an Injen, but since the latest dyno results etc I have started to consider other intakes. I'm looking for a noticeable performance enhancement along with a nice sound at WOT. I appreciate everyone's help and insight...

Thanks,

PJ

I said it before ...I'll say it again.....

I love my Frankencar Intake.

Sounds great and the performance gains are noticeable enough for you to feel on the good ole butt dyno.

don't believe me?

Buy one....install it.....then let me know what you think.

oh yeah....just so you know...you WILL lose low end torque
coming from a stock airbox.

If you're going to lose low-end torque, then why intall the intake? Sorry, I'm still new to this stuff...

with the franken (velocity stack) intake you will have more torque
high end.

I second that!

I have the Frank mid-pipe and the berk filter (K&N). I love the sound at WOT. Yes, you will loose low end, especially in the summer. but the mid-to top-end is SWEET. I would recommend building a heatsheild for the summer months.

I agree with everyone here. I have the mid pipe with the Apexi filter (it's supposed to be better). I experience the same thing here - loss of low end but more mid-high range power. At 4k+ rpm's the intake REALLY growls!!!!!!

I love it. I didn't seem to lose any low-end torque, If I did I didn't notice it. It felt stonger all through the rpm range.

Same here, I love it.. I didn't notice any low-end torque loss. Car feels much stronger with this intake.

I love the sound of my Frankencar, I dont know performance wise, my car seems to be faster, but it may just be the sound that makes it seem faster and more aggressive. Either way ill take the sound over my stock quiet air box.

Same here.. Love the sound at WOT and the exta power at top end.. Haven't noticed any bottom end loss either.. Only thing I don't like is having to keep reseting my ECU...

i have the frankencar intake with K&N filter. and i love the sound, its great. really felt it at high end, and they dyno shows well over 200 fwhp. thats JUST the intake itself. btw im talking about 2k2 autos. hahaha. well yea, frankencar is awesome, but during the winter, i dunno. doesn't sound as great as the summer tho. the engine seems to be louder. i dunno maybe thats just me.

I'm confused about this as well... That is not normal is it? I would have zero interest in buying an intake if I had to reset my ECU from time to time. Does anyone else do this?

Given the lost torque in the low-end range, and the increased torque on high-end...do the numbers speak for themselves at the track? Are trap speeds higher with a better 1/4 ET??

Thanks.

I have not reset any ECU after I installed it. I had intake for more than 6 months now and love it.
Follow the instructions when installing and you not going to have any problems.

About power, I think it definetly increased with this intake. Throttle response is great too. I have not ran at the rack, don't have interest for it, but I feel the car feels more powerfull with intake on streets.

thanks guys, the people that seem to notice the loss of low end more are the auto guys. it's kinda a trade off, you can't have the best of everything, if your high end is good the low end will suffer slightly but it seems to be minimized with the hybrid intake over just a pop, and the way i looked at it, you might lose a little low end but the high end is awesome and if your racing someone you need high end, if your around town just give it a little more gas and your fine. also the apexi's I'm STILL waiting for and i've been upset but i'm getting more now i call twice a week onythem and it's been getting pushed back grr. called yesterday they told me to check back friday. the heatshields are scheduled to be out for the summer assuming all goes well i have so much i'm working on right now between new intakes, production and now this 15 hp this with nissan but it's all worth it for you guys.

and the CEL issue he's the only one that i know of having that prob, i'd like to find out what is it myself, my guess is a loose sensor somewhere after the install.

i live in the suburbs too, if you wanna hear the frankencar intake with K&N filter, then thats me. the sound is awesome.

one question.... does the weather affect the intake? because its gettin colder here in IL, and i dunno if its good for the intake... another thing is that i don't want to have CAI. doesn't reallie interest me. as dmbmaxima said, if you wanna race, gotta have top end, and its great with the frankencar. but i bought it when it was 149.99 =( but its WORTH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my frankencar intake as well. Steve was nice enough to install it at his house for me on a Sunday. I live in the city, so it's nice and quiet cruising the streets, but when I hop on 93 or the Masspike and hit the throttle, it sounds like a different car!

wouldn't CAI be better for the winter, and frankentake during the summer? because it doesn't sound as good as it did in the summer. err.. maybe its time to clean the filter.. hehe

CAI would be better in anytime then WAI but Injen some people don't really consider it as CAI....

good thing that i bought the frankencar intake then. i wanna lose low end because too much wheel spin, even for autos like me. i totally noticed a difference from a dead stop i don't loose as much traction as before. i gotta say frankencar intake is the best there is on the market. they even got it dynoed. and yes i got the VERY SIMILAR numbers as well. but the cattman catback exhuast didn't do ANYTHING to improve hp. i thought it would, but it didn't o well.. 645 bucks down the drain!!!
