E320 sport kill

I was in 73 freeway (Newport Beach cruising at 70 and trying to move into right lane in front of cycle. I waited until I have 6 car lengths and then start my move. behind me a E320 convertible was tailgating and also moved to right lane behind me. I got ****ed because the guy was way too close to biker and as I was going uphill I didnt enough instant power to lose him in 4th, so I put 3rd at around 70 and punched it. In about 6-7 sec I was doing 90+ and the E320 was like 8 cars behind. I slowed down and I saw go by at around 85-90 in about 20 sec. This was easy but I shouldnt have pushed my MAX at through 6500 rpm (6 speed 2002). Can this damage the engine? I didnt hit the limiter so I was probably under 6700 rpm.

I cruise in Newport beach a lot. Be carefull with any Benz that says AMG or Brabus on it.. the results will be so much different....
