Koni's on 5th generation
Koni's on 5th generation
I've seen several 5th generation maximas equipped with koni shocks manufactured for 4th generation veh's. Are the shock & strut assemblies the same on the 4th's and 5th's? Are there any mods required to put Koni's on my '01 20th Anniv Max? I'm looking to put a set of H & R Springs and upgraded shocks, and have read many good and many bad reviews about Tokico and KYB shocks for 5th gengerations. Would like to put the Koni's on but they told me they won't have an application for Gen 5 until early next year. Any opinions/experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks JK

check out maximadriver.com for installation guide. those konis are the same for 4th and 5th gen and it requires to cut ur front struts open, drain the fluid, and re-inesrt the koni shock inserts. check out my homepage too if u like.

it took my installer 2 hours to do the front struts (unintall, cut, install) Since u r going to go with H&R....I think it is ok to go with tokicos because HR is not that stiff. I would recommanded KYB and cattmanperformance.com has them modified for 5th gen. I choose Koni because KYB had problems with eibach on rear struts.
In addition, KYB rear strut stiffness is on-car adjustable, Konis are not....
