Springs (????)

Ok guys, I know I'm a newbie, but I'm actually and old newbie. Just sold my Lexus SC 400 and bought a new Titianium 2003 SE. This is my third SE in the last few years. Love the car, but the wheel well gap in the front is horrible. On my previous Maxima's I used Eibachs all the way around, but I've noticed that there are a few more manufacture's out there for springs. I like my ride quality now and will be keeping the factory struts. So my question is, what springs should I buy?? Also, if a person were to only replace the front springs, would the car sit up in the back. Appreciate all the help.
Will be adding FSTB and rear sway bar soon.

Thanks,
Shane

The aftermarket gives you a good choice of springs. H&R,Maxspeed,Eibach,Tein. Those are in order from the smallest drop to the largest. Eibach claim to have less of a drop than the H&R but I have found this not to be true the eibach drop the car about 1/2" lower than H&R and Maxspeed. I don't know of anyone that has installed the Tein as of now but they claim a dramatic drop over the others mentioned. I and several others on this board highly recommend the replacement of the factory struts as well. The stock shocks will not have enough strut travel and your ride will be noticeably more bouncy.I have rode in other peoples car that did not install struts and they all rode decent but over common road dips they all bounced bad one even bottomed out lol. For more information use the search function.

You really have to change your struts or you'll find yourself bottoming out shortly thereafter. I have the H&R's and they give the same drop as a stock BMW 325I or 330I. 3 fingers in front and 2 fingers in back. It gets rid of the gap without going too far which is why I bought them. I bought the Tokico Blue struts with the H&R's and the ride quality is very good and not harsh at all.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I've read every post (search) about springs on this forum and the nissanX forum. Looks like I'm leaning towrd the eibachs again, but I do not want to have to replace
my struts since the car has only 120 miles on it. I've also read about people having there second coil from the bottom (wrapped), but have yet to see a picture of the material there using. Any help on this issue???

Thanks,
Shane

Re: Springs (????)

Regarding springs, I have had Eibachs on my Max '00 and OEM struts and overall they have worked great for almost 2 years. But I am now starting to get a popping noise whenever I hit mild bumps. I have been checking local suspension shops and I get a different story from each shop. Some blame the springs from twisting in the lower seat, some think it is the upper bearing or thrust bearing, etc. Any input would be greating appreciated.
If it gets to the point that I have replace the struts, any recommendations, i.e. Tokico, Koni, KYB????

Thanx

i have H&Rs with stock struts. i am switching the H&Rs for ground controls. but i recommend eibachs for you since you're going to keep the stock struts.
