2000 Nissan Maxima SE

I am new to this forum but have been reading posts here for the last two or three months. I believe this site is one of the best out there. I currently own a 1990 Nissan Stanza, its been a fairly reliable car, but im considering a 2000 Nissan Maxima SE I saw for sale in my area. The price is listed at 14,500, its a 2000 SE with silver exterior and the gray interior with the Bose System, no leather and a sunroof. I belive it has the 16 inch rims, which I want because of the smaller turning radius. If I decide to get this car their wouldnt be any modifications, except for a strut tower brace and maybe a stereo system. What sounds like a good price for this car. I talked to the salesman and he is selling the car for a good friend of his. Dont know if comes with the warranty but im guessing it still has some of the old warranty from the Nissan Dealership. What things should I look for as I drive it and inspect it myself. I will be taking it to my mechanic to be looked at. Thanks a lot.

The thread about you know your driving a VQ was very funny.

Re: 2000 Nissan Maxima SE

If the car has been well maintained and accident free, then I would think there isn't too much to check except for...

1) Warped rotors
2) Brake wear / squeaking
3) Smooth shifts
4) Good appearance (no major wear, scratches, rips, etc.)
5) Wheel alignment
6) Leaks

Ask to take the car to a mechanic to check out the car too, and you should be okay.

The warranty really depends on how much the car has been driven. If the car doesn't have an extended warranty, then a 2000 model may be out of its basic 3/36K warranty (I have a '01 and I'm already out at over 48K miles - I drive a lot). You can always purchase warranty/service coverage at a local Nissan dealer, but they usually charge an extremely high amount for those things.

Again, if the car has been well maintained, it should be fine, and it should last for a long time to come.

Good luck. Peace.

I bought our 2000 Maxima SE a month ago. It has 45,000 miles and all options (leather, climate control, meridian, traction control, sunroof etc.....) We paid 14,200
