engine cover??????????

hi guys,

i need help, i had my oil changed yesterday and the mechanic told me i was missing the cap/cover that goes on top of the engine? i thought to myself what cover? i just bought my car like a month ago, i guess i didnt notice it.(duh!)..but now i think i remember seeing it on other maxs when viewing pics of engine bays. Its the cover that says NISSAN V6 3000 on it (i think), it goes over the engine....

1. does anyone know where i can get this?
2. it doesnt affect the car in any way, does it?

thank you for your advice, its greatly appreciated..

I took mine off to keep the intake manifold cooler. It's just got to trap hot air under it. As far as buying a new one, the dealer or a junk yard.

If you are talking about the silver/gray one with polished looking letters...that is an Anniversary Edition part. You can get it from DaveB.

Purely cosmetic.

I think he is talking about the cover for the coil pack/spark plugs.
But the end result is the same--contact DaveB

trap hot air? uh...i think that'd be too extreme, no?

it doesn't matter if you have the cover or not..the cover just keeps the engine bay looking...well, covered

Re: engine cover??????????

What year is your Maxima?

The 2000 and 2001 did not come with engine covers. However, the 2001 SE 20th Anniversary edition did have a cover.

2002+ has the cover as standard equipment.

It doesn't do anything except make your engine compartment look nicer. I would like to get it for my '01 SE, but the cost is rather high for what is essentially a large plastic cover.

No Need

If you go to car shows...Consider getting one. Otherwise, I'd let it go. There is nothing wrong with the way the engine looks without it. I think the cover looks to "plasticish" (spelling)?
