Starting hesitation

I did a search on this topic, but I still have a question. I have a 2k1 AE with 34k miles on it and every once in a while it acts as if it doesn't want to start. I have to turn it over two or three times to get it to crank. Like I said, this only happens once in a while (every couple of weeks). I use 93 octane gas. Any ideas?

When you turn the key to the last position b4 you start the car, let it sit there for a couple of seconds before you start it. Supposedly it has something to do with the chip in the key. See how that goes.

You say you have to turn the key 2 or 3 times to get it to crank? Or is it 2 or 3 times to start? Does nothing happen at all(silent)the first two times, or does it turn over but not start?

It turns over, but the car won't start.

i had the same problem and the first time I took it to the dealer and they replaced the battery with a nissan one. Now I just use the method I suggested above.

that's a tough one to diagnose, especially if it is so intermittent that it happens only once every few weeks. When I read your thread I thought you were saying nothing happened at all when you turned the key to the start position...

For some reason it's common with the Maxima's.

Someone else had suggested Larrio;s idea and now my car starts up everytime.
