adios 2k3 Max
After reading all the threads about problems with the 5th gen Max and having most of them occuring on my car the 6k I have owned it, I decided to take some advice I saw on this website a dump the thing. Since then I have not had a moment of regret. Nissan's extremely poor build quality as well as the total lack of committment to customer satisfaction led to this decision. I took a horrible hit on the trade in (does $6,000 sound right? For a Nissan, yes.) but I am happy I did it. Adios Nissan-never again.

So long...
Judging from his previous 6 posts, he probably went out and traded his Max for a Camry or an Accord. Good for him. He was not happy so he did something about it. I respect that.
However, I don't believe that he gave the Max a chance. He has one bad experience at a dealer and he makes up his mind that the car is gone. If we all sold our Max's because of a bad service experience, none of us would be here right now.

I have had my 2003 SE for almost two months now. Bad paint. Slight glowing SES light. Uncomfortable seats. It took a FSTB, RSB, and springs to make the suspension "decent". The engine may or may not be 255 HP. Never the less, if I had it to do all over again, I might not have bought a Nissan either.
I can really relate to how this guy feels. Some times it's not about the money.

You've owned the WRX for what, a few days now, please come back in 3 months and tell what you think of it then. Seriously.

How can you say that one car is superior to another when they're not even remotely in the same class? One is the premier sport-compact. The other is a flagship family sedan. Yeah, apples to oranges.
Anyways, good luck with the WRX. I'm sure that by researching the various WRX forums you'll discover that the WRX has its own unique set of faults and problems, just like every other car out there.

WRX's are nice but ...
The Maxima was not built to be a boy racer. It just happens to be a very fast "sporty" family sedan that we trick out. I have had 4 Maximas and driven more, the fit and finish has always been great. I beleive there may be some bugs in the "new" version but all cars have that, some to a greater degree. Look at the BMW 7 series, Audi, VW,Acura ...
They all have issues at some time or another, Nissan needs to crack down on thier lame dealers.
The WRX's fit and finish IMHO is about the Altima level, which is OK.
But hey, have fun!

If their service experience is better then Nissan, then all the props to them, being as small as they are. By the way, what's their powertrain warranty?

Thw WRX, as quick and nimble as it is, is in an entirely different class than a Max. Hops the car works out ok, but, it sure is FUGLY. I mean, I'm a runner and when I go to the lake to run and forget where I parked my car, I say, "damn that's a good looking car, then I notice that it's my Max". Not hating just elaborating that. Oh well, A 5 series or an E-class is an upgrade, not a four cylinder bug-eyed rally-racer.

unhappy customers are pretty vocal ones.. thats business 101. NNA needs to hit the books.. again...
as far as others, we are all enthusiasts here.. we keep our ears to the ground. I think we know what cars are having higher problems than other. (like honda trannies...)

I have a 2002 SE and I love it. I don't know what kind of problems you guys are seeing. I haven't had hardly one problem other that the paint. I don't know if the people that are having problems are just not taking good care of their cars or what. I love it

Up until about only a year ago, I didn't know about the WRX from Subaru. To me, car companies like Subaru, Kia, Daewoo, Suzuki and even Hyundai were all B-rated Japanese and Korean car companies. To this day, with the exception of "maybe" Hyundai, I still consider them B-rated car companies. I don't know....I just can't see myself buying any of these cars, even if their service depts were 100X better than Nissans!
If you can compare the WRX to the IS300, I'd take the IS300

Subaru isnt a B rated car company. I wouldnt admit not knowing who they were until the WRX came here. Their dealer network has really dwindled over the years and their service has been lacking.
My problems with Nissan leave me only a few choices in cars. Lots of great cars out there, only a handful of companies like Lexus who will support them (at least to the level of my expectations = $$$).
We shouldnt have to buy the I35 just to get a decent warranty.
