16" 300ZX Wheels on '02 Maxima

I've got a set of 16 x 7 wheels, pulled from a junked '91 300ZX, that I'd like to use as snow tire wheels on a 2002 Max (keep in mind, the Max calipers were upgraded along with the 3.5L engine upgrade). I know I'll clear the calipers radially (15's do not), but I'm concerned the 40mm offset of the ZX wheels might not allow enough offset clearance with the Max calipers.

Anyone have any experiences, or barring that, guesses?

Thanks,

Brad

I would suggest just trying it out. You mentioned you had the Z wheels, right? Jack up the front of the car and swap one of the wheels.

Well, they clear the caliper just fine, they're on the car, and the Max can now be driven through the snow like a tank. We had to go with 215/55 tires from http://www.greendiamondna.com since 205/60 and 225/55 don't exist, but the 215/55's are only 2% smaller than stock, so I'm not concerned.

I think he means Nissan upgraded the Max engine and brakes for 2K2.

Yes, exactly. Stock brakes got bigger on the 2002. I tried a couple different 15's and they all hit the caliper. I suspect a steel 15" might have worked, but nobody could tell me for sure, so when I found a set of Z 16's, I grabbed them, figuring they probably would work - fortunately, they did.

Now you tell me?

Actually, I really wanted to go with some sort of stock wheel, since it's my girlfriend's car and if she wrecks a wheel some day, I know she wouldn't be thrilled with having to buy a new set of four since the after-market one had been discontinued.

But what's the offset on the TSW? I trial fit 15" stock wheels from a mid-80's 300ZX and a '90 Maxima, and they both hit the spokes of the wheel.
