Has anybody ported their heads on a 2K? In Stillen's catalog, they list this as a service which should produce +10 HP.

Just wondering if anybody has done this, and if it is worth it. I have the resources (not Stillen but free), just want to know if it is worth the trouble.

yeah it's worth it, but make sure you do it right...it's an aluminum head(if i'm not mistaken)so it's a softer metal...
It'll make the engine breath better, better effeciency

I wouldnt bother....

If it truly only produces 10hp...dont bother.
I've seen Hondas pick up over 35hp to the wheels w/ a good port/polish...10hp seems a little low for all that trouble.

You must do this work correctly or else you might lose hp. I would have to inquire ALOT before taking the heads of a basicly NEW engine and then start screwing with them.

I was thinking I wouldn't actually perform the work on the head on the car, but find a wrecked car and tinker with that, in the event something went wrong. This would be done as a safety precaution.

I was quoting what the Stillen catalog stated. Perhaps the gains could be more, perhaps they could be less.

Nonetheless, the nature of the work implies that if you don't do it properly, the results could be not desirable.

On stock heads there are microscopic burrs and imperfections and impede maximum airflow....Porting and polishing is taking a rotory burr(can't remember the exact name now, but it's the same type tool that a dentist uses to burr down a filling) and smoothing and slightly enlarging the intake and exhaust ports.
