frozen door

its winter and up in ontario the winters can get pretty cold.. maybe not as cold as other places.. but to my supprise i have found about thrice now i with my bro that when he unlocks the door with the little control thingy, the front passenger door does not open.. he pressed it about 2 times and then when he got in the car he pressed the unlock button 4 times.. and then it finally opened and i could get in... anyone know what the problem with the door would be? would it just be that cause of the sheer coldness it froze something that had to do with the door lock? cause i could see the door lock would not even swtich to unlock...i have a 2k gle ... what should i do????
plz help!
