Now that I have some nice mag wheels on my Sterling Mist 2K SE, the disc brakes really are noticable.

Has anyone had experience with painting/powdercoating their brakes? I though a nice gloss black or red would be nice.

 

Red would be nice... that's the color I would use if I painted my calipers. No experience here...

 

We'll I painted mine blue on my 4th gen. Here's <a href="https://maxima.org/maxfaqs/sub_brakes/index.shtml#Brakes_1">directions</a> on how to do it. They turned out nice. You've really gotta look for 'em but that's what I was after. Plus they bring out the blue flake in the paint a bit. Well at least I think so.

hehe. nice and blue.. or am i just blind?? neways i suggest u use a brush to apply the paint instead of a spray. sprays if done right are alot smoother looking but are real messy. i suggest u use high temp paint (engine paint) if u can get it by a jar. then get the spray can. get a lil plastic disposable cup, spray a whole lot inside, and there u go, u got a cup of paint. dip the brush in there and apply to the callipers.. i do also suggest red, and black is i nice color too.. and u can get silver and use a real fine brush and do graphics on it.. maybe put "TYPE-R" ahahha yeah rite.. if u apply it by brush you wouldn't have to mask up that much of stuff. and a good thing to do is mat the floor right under the brakes so the paint that drips down won't leave a mark.. my bro took his whole callipers off, it doesn't help that much, i wouldn't suggest it..(brake fluid everywhere) i had to bleed the brakes for him too. remember not to paint the rubber dust boots on the calliper. it might crack from the paint thinner inside the paint..

the above are just suggestions on how to paint your brakes.. if u mess up i am i no way liable..

I have never tried their product, but there is a German company named Folia Tec (http://www.foliatec.com/) that makes a paint specifically for calipers. It's frequently featured in BMW accessories catalogues, and should be available from a number of on-line sources...
