$399 Ding and Dent

I just got a call for the dealership I bought my Maxima from and they are trying to sell me ding and dent protection for $399. The protection is for 36 months and you can use it as much as you want in that time period.Ex( you get a ding in your door and get it fixed and then a week later it happens again you could bring it back in) My question is do you guys think this is a good deal? I was thinking of getting it since I have heard so many bad things about the paint and since it dosen't cover scratches and chips I could always make a little ding on the hood and get the whole hood repainted

Thanks

This sounds like a good package, seeing as how ding and dents really get on my nerves. $399 I guess not bad if you can afford it.

The ding and dent package is probably for [b]paintless[b/] dent removal. Ask for the details and be specific. Keep in mind that Dent Dr. will remove dings on a per pannel price of about 100 bucks. So your looking at 4 pannels over 3 years until you break even on that deal.

I don't know about you guy, but I sure don't ding up 4 pannels in 36 months.

Personally I wouldn't bother for that price. Sounds like they are trying to nickel and dime something that you'll never end up taking full advantage of.

Well... This terrible storm had me smack my 2k2 max into a pole, nice big fat dent in the fiberglass up front. It is minor, but I beleive something along the lines of what he was offered would cover it, since sh8 does happen. Go for it.... Not all of can afford to constantly fix up our car. My car has been into a body shop almost 3 times cuz of dumb things here and there (not by me ofcourse). Depending on where u park, a person will just smack your door without remorse, damn them. Get that package, use it to its full.

I think Dent Wizard has some plan that you can sign up for that's similar to what the dealership is offering you. I'm not sure about the price and the terms, but they also allow you to get your dents/dings repaired as many times as possible.

Make sure that the program you're offered is not just paintless dent removal. If you get a paint chip and then put a dent in yourself hoping they'll repaint the body, you might be in for a surprise if it's only PDR program.

Best of luck.

P.S. I just put a small ding on my week old 2003 as well (stupid tin-foil hood!!!)

I dont know..I have had my car since May of 2001 and dont have one dent...I do have some chips on the door guard..but I dont have any dents in the actual door... the door guard does a good job of protecting the doors...

My Nissan Dealer charges $75 per panel (ie per door). I park my car away from the crowd so I don't expect to have ding repair more than 1 or 2 panels for the next five years so $399 is not a good deal in my case.
