Hey guys,
i am looking at buying a 2k maxima gxe 5spd...32k miles..and the guy is asking 13000 out the door..but it had a few problems during test drive.
1)during breaking, steering wheel was shaking, im guessing that's the rotors. they said they'll try to fix that but won't replace them. so how much would i have to invest afterwards to get them fixed?
2)when i came to a read light and stopped, the rpms dropped low and a couple times it died on me..they said they can adjust the timing or something like that..is this a problem that more maxima's have? and will i be ok w/ it after it gets fixed once?
3)radio didn't work, but they said they'll take care of it. hopefully that won't mean there are other electrical problems.
4)Last one, , when i sat inside, above my head, the interior had greasy spots..they said they'll clean it..but i doubt it'll come out..how much u think that'll cost me to get replaced?

Thanx a lot, and also, do you think its worth buying this car? they said they got it from a bank auction..as a fleet vehicle..so i guess it was a lease before or something.

I'd avoid that like the plague and buy something that works.

 

 

Why the seller didn't fix those known problems before selling it? IMO I would find another vehicle

 

If the seller was not willing to fix the obvious stuff that was a distraction before the test drive, what other problems might come up later that were less obvious? Unless you can get a trusted mechanic to check this thing out really good, the seller fix those problems, and get some kind of warranty beyond the normal 36,000 miles, avoid this one. Too many other ones out there for sale. Check the cars for sale forum.

ya i told them to fix everything. im supposed to go back on friday. for another test drive to c if its better. and they also offer extended warranty from AUL Administrators..anyone hear anything good about them? its like $1215 for extended 36 month / 36K miles warranty.

I'd based on the above, plus what you already to be wrong on the car, I'd pass. There will be more and more 2Ks coming on the used market.

I have a 2000 GLE 17k miles on it blue pearl all eq and power moonroof had list of 27,747 will sell for 18,400 witch is low book on the car and no tax well that is no tax where I am in AZ and that is right 17k miles on it under full warr let me know

 

it is prob. not an ex fleet vehicle...b/c it's a 5 speed...

it is prob. a repo....

for a benchmark....i bought a 2000 GXE a few months back that had 72,000 miles...and had absolutely no problems whatsoever except for the all too common paint chips...and I paid $11,000 (cash) out the door (included taxes, title, junk fees, etc.)
