Considering another car...your thoughts welcome

So here's the deal: I've had back problems (two bad disks) for nearly 20 years, two surgeries (one laminectomi and micro-endoscopic disectomy for the few docs on the Board) and my doctor is becoming fairly adamant I need to stop driving a manual. While I stay fairly trim & active, the back's not getting any better...age gets all of us eventually.

If I were to pursue selling my Max -'01 SE with Bose, Meridian, black-on-black, Eibachs, Integral SSRs, Tokicos, Stillen, FSTB and RSB, EA sills and fairly new Michelins and 10.8k miles- what do u guys think would be a reasonable selling price?

Unfortunatley, as i have seen on this board, the resale value of the 5th gens is horrible. I will keep my 02 forever! BTW, if you are going to part out your mods, i would like your SSRs

17-18K would be a good price for a loaded 2001 with 11K mi. You will get screwed by trading it at the dealer with the mods you have done.

You only drive 6000 miles a year??

I'd say $17,000 is a fair price

Let me know if you are selling off your mods. I might be interested in a couple of things.

I got about $16500 for my 2001 AE (no leather) in July. However, I had over 50K miles. I was dissapointed at the time, but I overall I think it was a fair price.

alternative

Wouldn't it make more sense to spend the money and have a custom chair fitted? That would probably be a lot less than what you would lose on resale.

Only $16k to maybe $18k?? MaximaDan

hit it right on..I'm gonna drive this thing until I turn into a cripple!

I was not seriously considering another Maxima...maybe a used CPO Lexus GS400 or Audi A6...you can find good Lexi and A6s in the high twenty k/low 30k range. Would have been willing to go up to the low thirties (putting a G35 in range) but no way am I gonna take that kinda hit right now; that's a $8k smack in 16 months...whew!

Thanks for the responses

How much were you expecting? $17-$18K is if you sell it privately. Expect $14-$15K if you trade.
