Added hp now shift points are going up

I added 21 hp with my WarpSpeed Y & B pipes and a cone air filter. Now my automatic transmission shift points have gone from approximately 6300 to 6500. Not sure where the revlimiter cuts in but if I add much more power I'm going to hit the limiter before shift. Anybody else experienced this?

Apparently the automatic transmission shift points are speed limited. This would explain why it is shifting higher. More power to the converter means more slippage and higher rpm at a given speed.

Yeah I noticed the same thing after I installed the Injen CAI. hey Larry didn't you have that before? The Injen CAI? Did you take it out? And why?

Also the shift points changed again after installing the Cattman Y-pipe. Bummer is I also noticed the transmission slipping. Damn now I have to take it all off again and put the stock back on before taking the car into the dealer...what a pain in the a**

foodmanry,

I never had an Injen intake. I added a cone filter on a Berk adaptor before my exhaust but for only a short period of time and really didn't pay attention to my shift points. I took it off at the time because I really didn't like the sound. After seeing the hp it makes I decided the sound wasn't so bad after all. LOL!

lcf,

With shift points at 6300 no need to manually shift.

mzmtz,

Excuse my ignorance but what is a MEVI?

Hey Larry, since I installed a Y-Pipe and Cat-Back with intake, I can rev my auto max almost up to 7000 rpm, but I think there is not more power produce at that rpm.

Cheers

Almost 7000! We do have a rpm limiter don't we?

My engine made peak hp at 6200 rpm. I agree not much need to take it much higher than 6500. Generally 300-400 above peak produces best et.

Yes we do and mine doesn't like me. I have hit it a few times b/c I had downshifted to the gear to race from a roll. Its around 6800 if I'm not mistaking. Matt

So can you fell the difference and is it worth the $$? I would like to add additional power to our car but am new to moding Maximas and don't want to screw anything up since it is her car and under warranty!

Thanks!

Yes, I can definitely feel the difference! Is it worth it? For me, yes.

Traction was a problem before additional hp. Now even more of a problem. That's my next project.

my shift points are:

1st:5000 rpm
2nd:6500 rpm
3rd:6600 rpm at 110 mph
4th:umm.. around 5000 rpm.. at around 130 mph.
i have a 2k2 auto. with frankencar intake and cattman catback exhaust. IF you do have a 2k2... the ypipes are out? or are you talking about the 2k-2k1's.

You must have a one speed automatic. Even 6 speeds shift.

Chinaonnitrous1, I'm the only real "Larry" though.
