Running Wire Through Firewall ?

I'm looking to run a wire through the firewall and have discovered what looks like a plastic screw on the wall right behind the brake (2001 SE). This has a slot in it, but turning it doesn't remove it from the back.

Is this covering an opening in the firewall? If so, how do I remove it without damaging it? If not, what's the best way to run a wire?

Does anyone have a picture showing the best spot for doing this?

Thanks for any help.

No, unfortunately the grommit is hard to get to and even harder to run things through. The grommit is located in the driver side wheel well. To get to it, you will haev to unscrew the black lining from the wheel well and pull it back, a grommit will be revealed which opens up inside basically behind the lower part of the steering wheel in the left side above the dead pedal. I ran my 4gauge power wire for my amp through it, and it was a sweaty, tedious, swearing-full job. I had to call a maxima owner in tucson to ask him a hundred questions while doing it. Personally i think it would be easier to pay the $20 and take it somewhere and have them drill a couple new and EASIER grommits. Just my $.02 though

There was a post of a how-to for installing an Infinity Basslink that covers running the power wire through the fire wall.

Hope this helps:

wpr, it's a piece of cake. Just follow what FATMAN said or my webpage.

I did exactly what is on GTR riders website. I also put silicone around the power wire. I have a pic if you want it send me your e-mail. Otherwise, it's easy as Ice has said. Also no drilling required

Yea, I used that grommet and didn't find it that difficult at all (and you don't have to take the wheel off). Once you get a good size hole it's not bad at all. Now I've got to do it again for my upgrade to 2Ga...DOH!
