just curious, i drive a 90 auto and i love the some what smooth ride, i cant drive stick, at least not yet, but when i buy a newwer max 97-99, i just might want the 5speed, but i am not sure how the ride will be.. is it smooth when u shift or jerky? or does i t just depend on how you drive? thanks for some comments...

This post should probably be in the 4th gen folder since 97-99 Maximas are 4th gen.

Completely depends on how well you drive. The shifts can be much smoother than an auto, but a bad driver makes a five or six-speed ride feel like roller coaster.

keep in mind the SE has a rougher ride than the GLE/GXE

this is the sports suspension that gives you better handling (i dont know by how much though)

edit: i am talking about the 5th gens because the SE's are the only ones that came in manual

I doubt it'll ever be as smooth as an auto, but it can be smooth.

If you are talking about road ride, bumpy / harsh / soft .... there should be only a bit of difference. Most of the diff will be due to different tires, especially the ratio (40-50-60-70...)

If you are talking about shifting, then the auto should be smoother, but you will have more fun with a stick.
