Y-pipe, catback, b-pipe. What gains can i expect? also will it hurt my tranny at all since i will be getting a automatic? Any suggestions on exhaust, i was think a HKS exhaust, let me know, thanks everyone

Re: How much horsepower will a entire exhaust give me?

Y-pipe, +15 HP, + 15 ftlbs, little noise increase

Add a B-pipe and muffler to that (2.5" system), +5 HP, +2 ftlbs, large increase in noise

Automatic will handle the additional power as well as it would a stock engine. Not enough increase in power to worry about.

I'd say that about sums it up.

2HP only with a muffler

IMHO not worth the extra noise

You should probably worry more about the noise issue with a full exhaust, than if it will hurt your tranny. If I were you I would get the y-pipe first and see how the sound works for ya. It by far is the biggest gain for exhaust. The rest of the catback isn't much of a gain at all for a N/A car.

Try a Y-pipe -> R/T Cat (2k-2k1) -> B-pipe -> Stock muffler

From what I've heard the R/T cat doesn't provide much HP at all...

My .02:

My 2K 5-spd had a Stillen intake, y-pipe, and muffler. Nice overall power increase w/moderate noise increase.

I later added a 3" Random cat and Cattman B-pipe. Holy crap did it come alive! I never got a chance to dyno it so this is all butt dyno and I understand that is a poor way to measure gains but suffice it to say, I enjoyed driving the car much more after that! I must add however, the car was louder than most people might like at that point.

I'd say that's correct, except I'd go with a straight pipe($35) vs. the RT Cat($180?).

My exhaust is stock, except for my powertech, which is useless . I have to address the traction problem first . I have the power.. I just need to lay it down. I am waiting the Frankencar Cat back, and wil put it on. The RT cat for 2K2-3's is USELESS ! Unles you run a straight pipe, dont bother. The stock Cat is good enough. My first mod on a 2K2 or 3 would be a Frankencar with an Apexi filter !

With all the bolt on's like intake, UDP, Y-pipe, RT cat and exhaust I gained 30 WHP. My car was running bad that day too so expect more like 35-40 WHP. Half a SC, hehe.
