I have a 2000 GLE (fully loaded).
My dealer told me to leave the tcs switch in off mode.
This is my first winter with the Maxima, and when I hit ice patches, the dash indicates ''slip''.
Should I do as dealer instructed, or during tough winter driving leave switch in on position.
I have yet to get a clear answer from really informed sources. Help....

If someone knows please let me know too. My dealer told me the opposite and said "leave it on" which is right?

I can't see why not

I leave mine on. I don't see any harm being done. The default position is "ON"

Why would you leave a feature you paid for off??

PS.. maybe you should call your dealer and inquire into his reasoning..

traction control

Any other comments...as you can see..I can't seem to get a definitive answer.

P.S.My 2000 GLE is a ''Sterling Mist''. Great color...practical-not like black that requires constant cleaning...

Check the manual... i'm sure there's a definitive answer in there somewhere...!!!

Also, try the FAQ's, although I doubt this would be addressed.

In general, you always want the traction control to be on, during both wet and dry driving, rain, snow, etc.

However, if you get stuck in snow (either in deep snow or when starting from a dead stop), you may have to turn the traction control off briefly to get the car moving. This is particularly true if you are attempting to "rock" the vehicle back and forth to attempt to get unstuck.
