I noticed a problem with my 2000 automatic shifting from 1st to 2nd

When accelerating normally, the car shifts smoothly, when accelerating hard the car seems to delay in the shift from 1st to 2nd. It will hold at a high RPM(almost redline)for a second or 2 then it shifts hard to 2nd, to the point where the tires spin every time. It's really cool that the car is faster like this, but what the hell is going on? I know it shouldn't be happening. Anyone know what's wrong?...or if this is further damaging my car. Also, I have no mods. Thanks.

use search

Use the search. There is a TSB on the issue for the auto tranny slip. I have the same problem and have to take it in.

Re: Auto Shift

Dave1220...I'm having a similar problem with my
2K GLE. When the car was new, I had a delayed slip
shift into 2nd gear. Now , 48,000 mi. later, it
does the opposite. It actually " Bang-Shifts"
into 2nd gear. I will try to get the dealer to
install the TSB mods. I don't know what else
to do. The car is fine when driven normally
but when you get on it, watch out !! Is there
any help out there ?????

Thanks man, this info really helps. I printed it out and will bring it to the dealer. I am still under 60k so it should be covered under the warranty.....I hope.

me too

Its odd but I have noticed the sloppy shifting with my 2000 I30 but also when I had my 95 Max (which is still on the road at 106,000 miles), especially when it is cold out.
