Check IN Please--- I need to know how much you guys paying for insurance?

Ok I'm 21years old & my AllState agent just noticed a conviction of '00 for 1-month suspension & raised my insurance from $900 every 6 months to $1,900 every 6 months He said he can't do anything, he said consider myself lucky they didn't catch it earlier or else I would have been paying more.

So I called Geico Ins. & they quoted me $2,282.90 for every 6-months--
SPECS Coverage:
bodily Ins.- $20k-$40k max
Property Damage- $15k
Deductible- $500

So it just me & my record getting these crazy rates or anybody out there w/ a similar record have lower insurance??? Also what other insurance company should I call for a quote? (BTW: I live in Chicago)

Thing is, its hard to get a baseline for the fact that insurance companies charge different rates-dependent on where you live in the country. There really isn't a blanket answer for you, sorry. FWIW, mine runs me $568 every six months, full coverage, yada yada yada. I am 29 and hadn't had a ticket in a few years.

I'm 25/male/single with a clean record and I pay about $85/month or $1000 per year. It took a long time and a lot of money to get to where I am, but man am I glad I'm not paying $2500/year anymore. Get yourself a V1 and all will be well. Best investment I ever made hands down!

Progressive

No tickets/accidents and I just turned 25 not long ago.

Before 25:
$835/6months, if paid in full, otherwise $1K+.

After 25:
$555/6months, if paid in full.

My coverages are 25K/50K I think with a $1K/$1K deductible.

Guess that's how they keep MY rates so low! j/k

I pay $428/ 6 months for my 2k1. Actually, I pay about $1800/ year for my car, my wife's 2002 Grand Am, and $75,000 in renter's insurance. State Farm definitely has good rates... if you can get it.

I'm an Insurance agent, every state has different insurance laws that will effect your premium, and within every state different territories will have different rates depending on the loss history. In western NC with Farm Bureau I Pay about $400 for Liability of 100K/300K/50K, and comp with $100 deductable, and col. with $500 deductable for my 2k2 max 6 speed. O' yeah, in NC agents are not allowed to get a discount on their insurance, so thats not why it so inexpensive. Move to NC!!!!!!

USAA-they're good, but unfortunately for most, they only cater towards military and their families. You also get discounts as you get promoted, which is nice. My rates will still probably go up a little here once the stolen car thing sets in. Kinda ghey that I'm getting punished for someone ripping off my car, but I'm still well below $100 a month, so I can't really complain. Also, because my home of record is technically Arizona, I have the rates for that state.

Always go high on liability limits if you have the lowest and get in an accident you could be paying for the rest of your life. I suggest 100K/300K Bodily injury, and at least 50K property damage.

Comprehensive or "other than collision" deductable should be no more than $100 otherwise it is useless, because this is mostly for glass and animal damage, falling tree limbs, etc...., these perils tend to be less than $400 per occurance.

Collision deductable I usually recomend $250, but $500 is also ok. however, I would never go over that. most accidents are minor make your insurance co. give you some money. With a 1K deduct. you will get nothing but a claim history for a $900 fender bender, your insurance could go up. but you would not have cost your ins. co a penny.

Most important get a good ins. agent who will fight for you with the undewrighters and with adjusters

Also with the ins. co i work for we give discounts for adding other policies, such as homeowners or renters insurance.

I'm 20 with no tickets or accidents (at least not on record) and pay the exact same.

My 86 Monte SS with full was $230 a month, but dropped the full after getting my max. Go figure, it's cheaper to insure a newer car

I'm 27.
No tickets for a few years.
Live in the woods of Maryland.
Got a 2000 Maxima.
100/300/100k coverage with $500 deductible
Insured by AIG
Cost just went up; now $400/6 months

My advice, shop around! When I told the insurance guy I had better offers on the table he raised my coverage five fold and cut the rates in half. It's been 2 years now and though they have risen considerably I don't feel too bad after reading this thread. BTE when I was 25 with a new Maxima my insurance cost about $300/6 months for 100/300/100k.

I'm 22 and pay $138/mnth for 2000 Max and $56/mnth for 2K2 Cbr F4I which totals $2328/yr.. I have full coverage on both.. High coverage 100K/300K/50K.. Had one ticket back in 98 which isn't on record anymore.. I have State Farm and also have a the Hopital Income Policy.. I have $0 comprehensive and $500 collision deductibles.. I got hit about 3 mnths ago in my driverside door. Also hit a pothole (rectangle chunk of street that was left unfilled by gas company) and bent 2 of my 18's.. Insurance company took care of both claims and wrote me checks within a week.. State Farms the best...

22, never been pulled over or in an accident (knock on wood)
~$2000 a year with state farm & $1000 deductible. I recently did a quote online with progressive that was $500 less, plus I hear if u go to their store they can work it down even more.. so I'll probably be switching to them in a few months.

180 a month (whatever that adds up to) on a 2k auto, and i'm 24, in seattle. and that's a *really* good deal - i shopped around a lot. safeco came in lowest for me.

it's VERY location dependent. i moved into the city from the 'burbs and it went up 30 bucks a month. how many miles you drive to work/school, and whether it's garaged or not will all make a difference.

24, AllState, ~$700/6 months. I had my license suspended for a year back in '97. That might be long enough ago to not affect my insurance though. Allstate gives discounts if you have no tickets, but I seem to get a speeding ticket every other year or more, so I never see those discounts.

Hey K Pazzo 6,

I live in Atlanta now but I grew up in Niles and lived in Des Planies, Palitine and Schaumburg before moving here.

I had DUI's in 92&97 after the second I got dropped from State Farm and went with Progressive. My Payment was 232/mo. or 2784.00/yr. They also give you a discount for paying for the full year at once. It went down every year until I was down to 130/mo. or 1560/yr. on my 99SE lease.

I bought my 02 in May when I could get on my Co's insurance plan and get a Co. car. (I got an 02 Silverado 1500HD on the Co.) The car is in my name and I put the insurance in my wifes name with me listed as a driver. I'm back with State Farm and with a multi policy (My house) I'm paying 92.34/mo. or 1108.08/yr. I also got a ticket on my way to trade in the leased 99SE 82 in a 45 no change in rate.

I recomend Progressive for a lower rate. I even had a comp. claim with them and they took good care of me.

Oh yea my ins has always been 100/300/100 with all the bells and whistles and a 250 deductible. And I'm 32.

Good luck,
Adam

Same here. 27, clean record AND have to pay for insuring a lease which is about 15-20% more. I also have my policies for my homeowners and for my watch and it totals about $125/month.

One more thing, a word of warning on Metlife. They are a huge rip off. I've known 3 or 4 people who have switched from Metlife to Statefarm/Allstate and cut their cost in HALF. If anyone has Metlife, shop around!

With one speeding ticket. Try this site, www.lowermybills.com and see what you come up with. They saved me a lot on insurance.
