Just venting about the Bumper TSB (kinda long)
Let me just start off by saying that I cannot stand my dealer any longer.
The week before Christmas I called my dealer to ask them what was up with my replacement bumper parts - it had been over 3 months since they were back ordered. They had been in for 3 weeks, but no one contacted me. I talked to the service manager who apologized and said bring it in the Tuesday after New Year's and they would replace the clips in the morning then send it off to the body shop to repaint the bumper and I would have it by Friday. Finally, it was going to be done.
Until today. I show up when they open and while waiting to get my rental processed, the service advisor asked me what the deal was and that he didn't know anything about this coming in today. I relayed my conversation with the service manager from a few weeks ago and he came into the room and said he had no recollection of that conversation and there was no way he would have authorized a total repaint of my bumper. Starting to get fumed, I said I wasn't looking to be made more than whole, I just wanted the scratches fixed. He said it wasn't his issue as he didn't know it was an actual manufacturer defect. I thought about asking him what he was smoking, but instead relayed the previous visit, the wrong clips, the TSB, everything. He said he didn't know anything about the TSB so the service advisor showed him my file and then he spent 20 minutes reading it and said it doesn't say anything in there about fixing the scrathes - just about replacing the clips.
I told him about our previous conversation and again, he doesn't remember anything about it, but he will contact Nissan to see if they will authorize having a 'touch-up' guy repair the scratches or have a paint inspector come out and look at it. So, I still have my car, no repair on the near horizon and I need to find a new dealership - the problem is that this dealership was my last resort in the St. Louis area as the others won't touch TSB work - they always say they won't do anything until a recall. Urrghh.
Sorry so long, but thanks for letting me vent.

How Fun!

I've worked with two dealers. They've both been decent but I've been having trouble with the TCM. The bumper, they offered to repaint it, I didn't have to ask. We'll see what really happens when I go in there tomorrow. If they have it overnight, they're giving me a rental/loaner or I'm gonna bust some booty. I know its been said a hundred times over, but if we pay 25G on a car, why don't they treat us like it?

What I would do instead of wasting your time talking to these idiots, you should call the Nissan Coroporate number and talk to then. They are much more aware of customer service then these guys at the dealer. I think the number is 1-800-NISSAN1. Good Luck.

Thanks for the feedback, Tim.
Yeah...good luck in dealing with Nissan at that #
Like Tim, been there done that, did that, still doing that....to be blunt...they suck. Had to initially call back 3 times in order to even get the guy who "handled" my region to talk to me. It got to a point where we were playing phone tag..he kept telling me to call him...I did...of course he is never at his desk...then he just stopped calling.....it took me going into my dealership and raising hell with the Service Manager that this bozo out in CA was never returning my calls. He made a few calls to light a fire under his you know what and low and behold, I got a call...
Nice call....basically told me that I'm SOL and Nissan will not be working on this particular issue anymore as there is no problem(I think most of you know what I'm talking about
) He then gave me a 7/100000 Gold Warranty package....great...good thing since there is no problem....I took it but believe me...the Maxima will be long gone and hard to find even before that warranty gets a whiff of the car.
I also have the bumper clips on order..maybe they are in..I don't care...have decided, screw it..scratchs are better than those toads hacking the rear end of the car up as they read along with the instructions.
This without a doubt has got to be the most unsatisfactory experiences I've ever had with a new car....nothing but problems since day one. Every time I get something fixed, something else lets go...just got my loose front seat stableizd...at least I dont feel like the seat is gonna come flying off the rails now....
Maybe its the cold or whatever but at 5800 miles the brakes are acting up....I dont feel the shimmy that accompanies the warpage...just get a nice clunk from the left front brake when I apply the brakes(sometimes) Dealer.."We can't hear any un-normal noises" Heh...I didnt even fight the SA when she said that...just looked her in the face and told her "Of course you didn't" and smiled. Everytime I see the dealer he is like whats wrong now..I feel like he thinks I am making all this crap up....everytime I mention a TSB he has no idea and has to look it up......correct me if I'm wrong but aren't these jackasses supposed to be reading this stuff????
Arrghh....thanks for the vent but Blacks rant brought up the whole G-damn I hate Nissan feelings up again.
For 10,000 less I could have bought a Dodge and expect all this crap.....hell that doesnt even hold water anymore...2 people at work have Stratus's and couldnt be happier with them...only minor things...cup holders broke etc...I used to give them so much crap.....tables are turned now in a big way
Used car for me in a few months..that way I can expect noises and quirks and all that fun stuff and be able to park in a normal spot without having to walk 500 yards to the stores front door
HOLY S**T Wheres the Tylenol????!??

I had the dealer replace the clips on my bumper. The dealer did not paint the scratch marks. They are not getting worse, so the clips work. When the weather is a bit warmer I am going to try using the touch up paint myself. I hope that is not a mistake
