Now this is a puzzler. I can't seem to find the answer anywhere, searching the forums, faqs, and other web sites.

Everything I read suggests that in the 2002 SE you can have either a Bose or a non-Bose stereo.

But is there more than one non-Bose?

I want to add the cd-changer, but my non-Bose doesn't have a cd/chg button on it.

Checking in with Courtesy twice, I got two different answers, the first being "if you have a 2002 SE, non-Bose, this will work," the second being "I don't know."

 

The following information is for the 2002-2003 audio systems. It is unknown if it is accurate for the 2000-2001 audio systems.

There are 2 non-BOSE options, as well as 2 BOSE options.

Non-BOSE
Option 1 - AM/FM/Cassette/CD Player (In-Dash 1 Disc)
Option 2 - AM/FM/Cassette/CD Player (In-Dash 6 Disc)

As for Option 1, I don't know of ANY Maxima with it, but the HUs have different part numbers per my local Nissan parts department. Also, I don't know if you can order the Option 1 HU without returning the factory one.

BOSE
Option 1 (Nav) - AM/FM/Cassette/CD Player/CD Changer (In-Dash 1 Disc, Trunk Mounted 6 Disc)
Option 2 (Non-Nav) - AM/FM/Cassette/CD Player (In-Dash 6 Disc)

Thanks for the information. I actually have the non-Bose Option 1, so that's why I'm trying to figure out a way to add the trunk changer. Of course, the aftermarket's looking better all the time.

 

Hmmm.. interesting. I thought that if you got the in-dash 6 disc unit, it was automatically the Bose setup. Good thing I got the Bose 6 disc!
