Window Lock Button

I noticed last night that the window lock button on my 2k2 is not lit. I don't remember if it used to be or not. Does anyone know, before I take it apart, if there is a bulb in there?

Can't you tell if it is just painted or actually has the design that can be back lit?

I am fairly sure that 2k1's do not light up...but will check again. Not sure what they did for 2k2.

I don't know, when I drove to work this morning it was still fairly dark. And to be honest I never thought to look at that. I'll check it out, thanks.

I'm *pretty* sure that my 2K3 window lock button is backlit. I'll check it tonight when I get home. I don't think there are bulbs in there, but rather LEDs on a circuit board. I have a link at home to this guy who replaced all the LEDs with blue ones (VERY cool) and I think it has pics of it taken apart. Oh, I left my homework at home today too

I own a 2K3 and when I notice that the window lock button was not lit like the others, I took the car back to the dealer and to my surprise, they told me that they were all like that. In other words, some stupid retard engineer decided that this button should not and must not have a light bulb inside. It's ironic since this is the only button that isn't lit. It makes no sense at all whatsoever. If you still doubt it, go to the dealer at night and ask one of the dumb **s salesmen to show you one of the new Max's on the lot to confirm what I just said.

Haha, I guess they figure that if its dark out you don't need to be locking the windows. Maybe it lights up if it is engaged or something...

I guess I'll have to trade my 2K3 for a 4th gen. just to get the damn switch to light up

Thanks for all the feedback. Now I think I'm more upset that it never lit up than I was when I thought it was broke. How cheap can you be?

What I think is goofy is that when you use the window lock, not even the driver can open the back windows.

On other cars with four doors I've been in it would always allow the driver to control all the windows and just prevent passengers (children typically) from using the window.

I guess I'm a little late...

..but it does not light up. Moreover, all the window buttons don't seem to light up when the lights are on, but rather when the engine is running. I don't know if the lights also have to be on or have to have been on at one point, but I definitely know that the engine has to be running in order for any of them to light.

In many japanese cars the window lock locks the windows for everyone. My dad has a 2000 Camry V6 and it works the same way. I only used the lock when i got my tint installed, so that I didn't act like a moron and muck up my tint.

That's the only time I did it too. When I took it to the dealer I actually pulled the fuse because I didn't trust them. Apparently that fuse controls the power seats, door locks, sun roof, AND the windows!
