Y pipe advice requested.

After searching a bit I can't see any reason not to buy a Budget Exhaust Y-pipe. It seem like it has all the build quality and features of the more expensive ones.

Can anyone give me reason NOT to buy one from them?

this is an excellent post, I also want to know. SO far I know that Y-pipes vary by their flex section, type of steel they are made of, type of weld, and the inner diameter. It is my understanding that you want your Y-pipe to be of stainless steel (wont rust), have as much inner diameter as possible. I don't really know about the types of weld and flex section, and what they give you.

It'd be nice if someone created a side-by-side comparison chart for all Y-pipes. I doubt there is a difference in gains among various brand of Y-pipes, but it may be that ppl are brainwashed, paying for smthg they dont really need.

I'll start..

Budget: T-304 Stainless Steel, Mandrel Bent F-pipe $160 US
(What type of weld, and flex section?)

Stillen: Ceramic coated mild steel $347.00

Warpspeed: 304 Stainless steel either TIG welded or MIG $225-$299

Cattman: T-304 stainless steel and TIG-welded strength, Microflex interlock-lined flex coupling $$375

Ok I think thats all of them, it looks like a no-brainer to me, but I'd like to hear from some of you have the Budget.

wow great links, cool dynos. Although I'd like to see dynos done on a 5th gen, we have more even curve. Also, I have the question on how would the Budget Y-pipe connect to the stock cat, since its inlet is 2.5" vs. 2.0". My concern is the exhaust leak. But still kinda worries me why ppl are going for more expensive ones

The stock cat has 2.5" in and out. For 5th gen dyno search the Canadian forum.

I think the reason people are going for the more expensive (either Cattman or Stillen) is because of reputation and past experience. I have a Gen2 Cattman. Apparently the Gen1 Cattman has some issues with the flex section. But since then the issues have all but disappeared with the Gen2. If you live in a winter climate with snow you should opt for a stainless steel to prevent rusting. That would go along with better overall quality in the workmanship such as the welds and flex section. I don't know what kind of flex section the Budget pipe has. Maybe you can get them to send you a picture of it. Then you can compare with the flex section of at least a Cattman and maybe a Warpspeed if people have pics of them up on here.

Overall I am very happy with my Cattman y-pipe. Definitely a great performance mod. No "bees in the can" sound that people have gotten before.
