Penny dropped in gear shifter housing by wife.
Penny dropped in gear shifter housing by wife.
Hi guys, my wife came home this morning telling me that she dropped a penny and it went into the area where the gear shifter is for the automatic transmission of our 2003 Maxima SE. I am concerned that the penny could end up in the transmission gears & bugger it up. We called Nissan but the service dept was closed & the sales guy was useless. Whats the likelihood that this penny will end up in the gears of the transmission or is there any form of guard on the tranny to prevent such things from happening?
I was initially ****ed off at my wife but then realized that the change holder for this car is right behind the shifter...so you'd think Nissan would design the shifter guard so that change could not fall below it considering that there's a likelihood that at one time or another change would fall onto the shifter housing & guard.
Thanks Joe.

Re: Penny dropped in gear shifter housing by wife.
the tranny shifter is just a cable that controls the tranny. it's not really exactly right there. in fact, you can prolly pull that cover right out with a screwdriver and towel. from there you'll see the tranny shifting mechanism and prolly see more than just a coin.
i would worry about a pimple more than this. relax and give the wifey a kiss for me....or for you...=)
