How often do you get alignment done?

I have about 42k on my max and I've had 4 wheel alignment done about 4 times already and I need another one. Reason being that I got new tires and the tire place I had it done at recommends it. Also my steering isn't centered, car drifts to the right.

You don't need wheel alignment unless you change your rim and tire sizes or suspension changes. If it is just changing same size tires than you only need wheel balancing. Drifting to the right may not be a wheel alignment problem. It also can be the steering adjustment. I've had that problem in my Honda before.

Check your tire wear to see what type of problem it could be.

4 wheel alignment? I thought it wasn't possible with the Maxima? If that was the case, your probably getting ripped off paying for that

61,000miles no alignment, tracks like the day I bought it suprisingly.

4 Wheel Alignment is possible. But the front usually gets the worst. They have to do more on the toe-in toe-out on the wheels. I was wondering if they sell Camber kits for the 2k3 model yet. I know if you drop it too much 2" than you need them because factory specs won't allow a perfect toe in and toe out.

I do an alignment with new tires and thats about it (or if I know I hit a hole big enough to knock something out)

You can do a 4 wheel 'thrust alignment'. The fronts are really all that is adjustable, but you can use the rears to make sure the rears track properly behind the fronts. You are still only aligning the fronts, but it does cost a tad more in that they have to take the rears into consideration. Its not that common for the fronts to be that far out from the rears, so 2 wheel is the norm. The last time I went in, I took a coupon in from a competitor (another Nissan dealer) that said 4 wheel alignment discount for less than their two wheel price. I said, I dont care about any discount really, but can you do a 4 wheel thrust for the cost of the two wheel alignment? and they did it.

You've got new tires right? Then IMO, you should get 4 wheel alignment (yes, you can have all 4 wheels aligned even without independent rear suspension by using spacers) if you want your new tires to last longer and also better gas mileage not to mention a straight steering wheel. I don't know about California but in Florida we have a tire store chain called Tire Kingdom where you pay a one time fee (something like $125.00) and you can get unlimited wheel alignment for 3 years. Were the old tires getting worn pretty even or did they look uneven to you? If they looked uneven, then your new ones will end up the same way. I personally take my cars for alignment every 6 months or so. My $0.02 pennies.
