Car Alarm LED Placement

I just got an alarm/starter installed on my 02 SE. They wedged the LED inbetween the A pillar and the dash and it looks like crap. I was wondering where some of you put your LED light or did the installer professionally mount it. If so, where at? Any suggestions?

I don't have an aftermarket alarm on my max, but in my other car it is drilled into the top of the steering column. I think it looks good there and it is visible from almost any angle too. Just a suggestion...

You may have the option to mount it behind the rear view mirror if you have enough wire. Without knowing how the LED is mounted, it is hard to say.

I have an LED scanner connected to my alarm LED which is illuminated when the alarm LED is and I have that mounted behind my rear view mirror.

Depending on how the LED is set up, you could mount it virtually anywhere.

You may just need a little wire and some know how.

Here is where I had mine mounted:

I like to put the LEDs underneath the vent panel on top of the dash along with a blue VARAD scanner in the middle and also another one on the rear parcel shelf of the car. In this pic are two Superbright Blue LEDs and the VARAD scanner.

Take a look at some of the security work that I've had done to my Maxima here: http://www.cardomain.com/id/packetattack

There are a few other members on this forum that have put quite a bit of security work into their Maxes. We love our cars, we want to keep them :-).

if you look to the left of your steering wheel and below the gauge cluster, i have a space where a button should have belonged. to me, that is one of the easier locations to put it in. i'm not a fan of showing the world that i have an alarm by multiple LED's/scanners. this one or like someoen said above, on the top of the steering column, is enough to satisfy my needs of knowing that car was just armed. if you really want to razzle dazzle the worls with all these batman scanners and what not, you might as well ask to be robbed or to be laughed at.

Most of the fellow car owners I've met up with, don't humor my blue LEDS, as a matter of fact, they wonder how they got installed there and find it quite unique. Its done quite tastefully and highlights the alarm system nicely.

If others laugh, who cares? Are you that insecure? I like it and it makes me happy.

My car is white with black interior, the blue looks very good at night. In addition to that, its functional, most of the crack heads that hit the cars around here (Yes, I have them on tape if you need evidence), can barely see where they're going, my LEDs are angled upwards towards the windshield, provides a piercing blue light, saying, "Umm, hi there, yeah, this car might have an alarm.. you might wanna walk to the next one." That's if the PROX loop doesn't get them first with the chirp.

I wear my Glock T-shirt, because I like Glocks, am I a bigger victim now, you going to rob me more, because you want to test and see if I have a gun or not? Tommorow I'll wear my "Make love, not war" T-shirt, am I a bigger target now? Now I'll wear my tough guy outfit, maybe I'll be a different target for a different criminal today.

Laughed at? Possibly.

Robbed? Possibly, however unsucessful attempt.

Since you're in Queens, we can meet up and I'll give you a nice demo of my security system, I'm rather proud of it and I think you'd be too.
