I can totally believe that... that track is a horribly prepped track, and it hits them especially hard as they have more than enough power to try to put down in the 1/8th mile. those modded GTPs spin a fair amount at well prepped tracks, so why they choose to hold the yearly GTP meet in KC and race at that track I dont know

Russ, no offence, but it sounds as though you're very insecure about your car... Just drive the damn thing and be satisfied, or just go buy a better car... Maybe a Maxima

With that said, I can't trip on GTPs too hard because I thought about getting one in the not too distant past (Circa 1999).
I considered the GTP too before the Max...Definetly nice ride for the money....

Well if you round the others up, 9 times.

Umm sure you do.

GTPs run stock mid 14s. With pulleys they run low 14s to high 13s trapping at 98-101 mph.

I admit it, I considered the GTP.

However, it is nice to have a 3.5 that is making as much power as a boosted 3.8.

...now if we went boost for boost...I mean if we could...Well, you know...

uhh, where is he running mid 14's? North East? close to sea level, and low temps?

I am in Kansas City, 90 degree weather...1000ft above sea level...

buddy of mine here in kc ran his BEST time of 14.6...with intake and pulley work...

He says that's the norm for lightly modded GTPs in this climate...

Don't give Russ any ideas, now! He'll probably be the first to get a 6th gen as it is.

Ot, I wanna see a GTP with the 3.5L DOHC Oldsmobile engine. Slap a blower on that, and it would rock.

I agree w/ Russ...

He's a straightshooter on the CL and TL board, and as much as you guys would love to think he's "insecure" about his CL-S or not completely knowledgeable about what he's talking about .. sorry, he is.

My buddy had the Regal GS -- for those morons that don't know, virtually identical times w/ the GTP stock for stock -- his biggest problem as it is w/ the GTP is the grip right off the line. Warm weather, cold weather, outfit either car w/ supersticky tires and SEE YA .. cold weather only helps the S/C (more than a cold weather helps a N/A car) as most of you know... they'll start to seriously improve their times when the weather drops below 60 degrees. Early after the '97 GTP came out, some guys at GM removed the left headlight and ran their stock GTP all day mid-spring and got numbers averaging 14.3 .. ALL day.

(BTW my buddy's GS toasted the TL-S every time .. couple carlengths)

All tracks are different and some are just simply quicker than others. I don't doubt that many GTP/GSs have gone mid to lower 14s at some tracks, stock LS1s that get high 12s stock, or 99+ Mustang GTs that get high 13s stock. However at my track, KCIR, GTPs pull low 15s stock, 99+ GTs go 14.7s stock, LS1s go upper 13s stock, you get the picture. All I have to go by is what I've WITNESSED at MY track...and I go a lot. The way I see it, I'm easily within competition of most of the GTP/GS, some LT1 F-bodies, most of steet driven Mustangs at my track. When I say in competition, it means within .2-.3 and 2mph. I think it's only right for me to assume that I would probably be quicker at a better track, like most of the other cars I listed above.

Here in Kansas City we're blessed with 1000+' altitude, humidity, and low air pressure. This isn't ideal for racing as many of you know. My Max obtains 1/8 mile MPHs and 1/4 MPHs that most of the quickest NA 4th/5th gen Maximas in this Org, but I can't ET for ****. The difference lies in the 1st 100'.

I know, I know, cry me a river, Dave

A friend of mine has a G35 and his best is a higher 14.8@95mph. I consistently beat him. I believe his best dyno was 215rwhp. Hopefully VQMan will join us so I can gauge my car against his. Even if his ET sucks, we'll be able to see the potential of his car thru the MPHs.
