03 Max Owners...

Look at your fuel filler pipe and tell me whether or not you have the shield protecting the opening, i.e, moves out of the way when you insert the nozzle of the pump and moves back into place to block the opening when you're done. Just noticed our 03 doesn't have one, and I'm thinking there should be one. My 02 is in the shop so I can't check.

I did not have one on my '01. Went to the dealer, they ordered one no problem under warranty. Treat service with respect they will come through for you. I have not once had a bad experience with Nissan service yet.

I'm not sure if they are supposed to have one or not. My wife pointed it out as we just got the GLE about a month ago. I've never noticed it on my 02 SE, i.e., there or not. I was more interested in figuring if I had a defective part or not. Sounds like none of us have one, so I guess we're ok???

search is your friend

This issue came up nearly a year ago. Apparently Nissan did away with the fuel flap door awhile ago. No problems.

Next we'll start reading about the splash guards around the fuel door again too.
