Second one was on Tuesday, trying to back out of the garage in first gear. Yes, BACK out of the garage in FIRST. Luckily I only damaged my pride, broke the handle on the wheel barrow, and lightly scratched the max. I think it'll buff out.
funny this poll came up.. I was just in an accident about half an hour ago coming into work. It wasn't *that* bad, but a lady in a suburban pulled into my lane and forced me over the curb, missing a tree by about a foot. I came out fast and caught her and she started cursing at me and throwing the finger out the window. I pulled ahead and once into the neighborhoods past the office, I pulled into a cul de sac to get back behind her and she took off. I tried to catch up but it would have been stupid to do 60+mph to catch her.. she got me this time
anywho, I have yet to assess the damage, if any to the suspension, although I'm thinking something was dorked up. no other damage though

No, just any damage. Mine was minor. Backed into my g/f's car because I didn't look. The damage doesn't look terrible but I've gotten 2 estimates - $650 and $1100!

Wow, I am couting my blessings. I have no accident this car except for day 1. One day after I brought this baby home, some @$$hole rear-ended me at a red light. Luckily there was no damage at all. Not even a scratch. Thank God because I was really mad [and didnt take my medications for anger management and I had a metal pipe.

Re: Poll...Have you had an accident....
Got rear-ended by a guy on 93South heading into Boston back in October. The traffic came to a stop and a guy in a Chevy cavalier hit me at about 15-20 mph. Luckily his car is lower than mine, I needed a new rear bumper and new brackets for it etc at a cost of $850 (insurance covered it all and I didn't have to pay deductable because it was his fault). His car looked awful, the front lights were smashed in, his hood was crumpled up at least half its length and his front bumper was toast. My 2K2 Se looks and drives good as new, the paint on my new rear bumper matches perfectly and isn't the cheap Nissan stuff.
I totaled my 95 Maxima GLE about three weeks ago. Here's the story:
"I was making a lefthand turn into a strip mall, crossing two lanes of traffic (with the consent of a driver stopped in the first lane), when a young woman - choosing the inside lane and going about 40 mph - took-out my trunk and bumper. I was 80% into the parking lot when the new Rav4 wiped out the back of my Maxima, leaving the contents of my trunk scattered across Route 114 in Middleton, Massachusetts. We both got out of our vehicles uninjured. That was the good news, and I'm thankfull no one was hurt. But ...
My poor, sweet Maxima. She's a 95 GLE with 175K miles, and she's a champ! Even after the violent collision, back doors buckled, frame bent, and bumber in the trunk (I had to cut it off with a utility knife) she fired-up right away, and went down the road like a brand new car. My co-workers couldn't believe the car was driveable. After work, I played a couple of hours of tennis, and then hit the highway for my 45 mile drive home. She ran dead straight. I can't explain it, but it's almost as if the car has dignity: even after taking an uncalled for beating, she dusted herself off and wrapped me up for a safe, comfortable ride home. I know these are just cars, but my Maxima is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I was going to sell her, soon, as I have a '99 loaded SE coming my way at the end of the month. I'm pretty sure the insurance company will total the car (Blue Book is about $5,300 w/ mileage deduction, and I'm sure there's a lot more damage than that). But, now, I feel as if I have to put her right. I feel guilty about hurting my Maxima, even though it wasn't my fault. It's as if this car has been a loyal and dutiful friend that has asked very little and given everything.
Thanks for reading, and give your Max a little pat on the dash to let her know you appreciate her."
The Good News: I bought an '02 Maxima SE from another maxima.org member. The car is completely loaded (except for navigation), has only 14K miles and came with a 7YR/100K Nissan warranty; $19,300. By the way, the damage to my 95 GLE was estimated at $12,000 without knowing whether there was any frame damage.
Now, how do you change your user name?

In less than a 12-month span a few years ago, I was involved in three accidents. Luckily, none were my fault:
1) I was driving a friend's BMW 325 when someone decides to launch from a stop sign while I was in an intersection. Passenger-side damage.
2) I was driving my Civic when someone again hits me in an intersection. Passenger-side damage.
3) My Maxima gets hit...IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC!! Idiot SUV driver kid slams into a pickup which hits the Maxima from behind, and I lightly tap a Mercedes in front of me (good thing I had enough sense to keep my feet on the brakes when I got hit). The pickup gets really screwed up, my Maxima had rear-end damage and front bumper scratches, and the Mercedes had a scratch on the rear bumper. The SUV didn't seem to be damaged much, but what a stupid driver to be going so fast during rush hour time.
All that sucked, but at least all the other party's insurance covered it all pretty quick. When it's deemed their fault, insurance can't seem to pay fast enough.
Peace.

A year from this day I totaled my blue 2002 Maxima into a guard rail taking a turn way to fast. It ended up working to my advantage though, other than the fact that my insurance went up. I now have a white 2002 with all the options except the nav.

Here at the University of Alabama a school van backed into me messing up my bumper and did scuff my headlight. Well I got $1500 from the accident. The best part was that after a few days of normal driving that scum on my headlight buffed it's self off. Then I got $50 for a rental car I never got, plus I got $47 for my sidemarkers that were not damaged, but the dealership said I needed some more. When they got the amber side markers and not the clear ones like I told them, they just gave me the money so I could "buy some more". So at the end I came out about $850 more than what I had, plus a new freshly painted bumper that hopefully won't chip because it's different paint and not the ****ty factory paint.
never crashed the max, never will
(i hope!!)
I did get into a car crash with the "beater" car that never dies! There was about 2" of nice slushy snow on the ground and of course Clifton didn't clean it up...now I have to go to school because school is open (This was High School). I am on broad st. and there is a nice curvy rd...I tap the brake and this car goes crazy...well I ended up hitting the guardrail (pretty soft..only fender damage)---this other car who was going at least 40mph in a 25 zone when there is snow braked and turned his wheel left and hit my drivers side rear..totally ****ing it up...he didn't even keep a good distance.
Oh well, car is fixed...I love that Corolla--it's a go cart for me

When the car was 2 months old some punk on his bike slammed into my passenger side fender while I was sitting at a red light. At six months I went to the mall and someone dented my passenger side quarter panel and rear door (and no note). And on August 24 of this year, some dumb@$$ sideswiped me because he was gonna miss his exit. Car is fixed now and looks beautiful.. I just think I have some sort of magnet in the car that draws these jerks.
i went out to a bar and when i can back some had hit the back right portion of my maxima. It is visible but only b/c some paint was scratched off. Big surprise b/c our paint is so strong and all. anyways i decided not to report it to insurance b/c i think it would end up costing me to much in the long run. There is not dent or anything like that. just a big as scratch the is about 4 inches long and half an inch wide.....it really bothers me but thats life in houston.

I was driving on a two lane street. Some a**hole tossed a full 1 liter bottle of coke out of his car window. A car coming towards me clipped it with his tire shooting it into my front fender. I needed a new fender and they practically had to repaint the whole car just to blend the paint. $1200 to fix it.
2 Accidents with my '02. The first was when some dip$hit rearended me in traffic. The second is chronicled here: http://www-new.nissanx.com/f0rums/th...id=4&styleid=2
May 30, 2003 -
Got clipped by a drunk driver in a Mercury Mountaineer after I started from dead stop on a green light. Her light had been red for at least 10 seconds, she either didn't notice or wanted to get through the intersection. The crazy part was that she tried to deny it. I had several good witnesses (one a nice lady that only stopped to make sure I didn't get screwed) and the cops were there SECONDS after the impact. I wasn't hurt and had I been another inch into the intersection, instead of merely tearing all the plastic off the front and toosing a headlamp 30 ft, I would have been pushed into the lane beside me - frame and front end damage would have been a given.
So...I got the Stillen kit installed earlier than I would have and have a big
