Courtesy HID Theft Det Kit???
Just installed it. No instructions came with it, but it didn't take long to figure out. Took me about an hour to do. I actually did it without taking off the grille, which seems to be a PITA. If you look on the Courtesyparts.com site, you can see a picture of all the parts. The big one is obviously the replacement hood latch mechanism. It's basically an armored version of the OEM. Makes it impossible to access the spring mechanisms from below. The long metal piece is a sheath for the hood release wire. it is bolted to the front of the engine assembly with the two nuts provided. One end of the sheath slips into the hood latch mechanism, so it protects the wire all the way until it reaches the radiator, making it unaccessible for the dreaded pull-down-the-wire-and-release-the-hood maneuver. Those two pieces protect the hood latch if the thieves tear off your grille. Pretty ingenious, actually.
If the thieves happen to open the hood, Nissan has provided four special bolts for the HID assembly. They seem to be one time bolts, in that in order to tighten them, you pretty much strip the little prongs that stick up. Hard to explain, but I guess it's a last ditch option. At that point in the process, if the thieves really wanted to take the lights, they would just snap the assembly off and salvage the bulbs and ballast.
There is one last piece in the kit; it's labeled "key protector." I don't think it goes under the hood, and I haven't been brave enough to tear apart my door, so I just left it out. I figure Nissan will smarten up someday and provide official instructions on all this. That is when I'll put in the last piece.
Email me if you do get it. Personally, having installed the kit, I think it is very much worth the ~$50.
No digicam, so maybe I'll borrow one to take pics of it all and post it. If you do get it, email me and I'll send you detailed instructions on how to install it.
