Kick in the ****...

this is bizarre and has happened a few times. I'm sitting at a stop sign/light and out of nowhere *bamm*. I mean, you look in the rear view to see if you were hit. My wife was like 'wtf was that?' (yeah, she curses like a sailor ) We had to have been stopped for 2 mins.

I have to assume that my auto is sitting in second *forever* and then deciding to drop to first after a few mins. I know the max doesnt downshift into first unless you are totally stopped (after you've stopped in fact). Mine's just getting lazy I guess. Just does it every once and awhile, just to freak me out I think.

think sitting stopped.. no movement.. car shutters HARD for no reason. you get the picture.

Really, it kicks the car. Its like getting tapped on the bumper.

its unseasonably warm here, I could see the tranny freaking in the cold. its really strange. Makes you want to get out and see if Sputnik landed on your car.

The first time I was in bumper to bumper traffic and if the lady behind me had been any closer, I would have thought she did it.. that would have been very embarrassing.

I promise, this wasnt a PUI* post

That would be to funny

to see Tim loudly accost a little old lady.

OT When my oldest kid was about 10 I would have him scare people on Halloween, he would ring the bell, hide to the side, then jump out at people and loudly scream at them. That stopped the day he gave an old lady a semi heart attack, I had to help her to her sofa and get her a glass of water and her heart pills.

Hey Tim, it happend to me a couple of time with my 98 SE-AE, I would ear a loud bang in the tranny everytime it did that, it was an auto, in drive it would not go right away and suddently that bang just came in, I explain that to my dealer, they couldn't find anything, after a few month on a morning my reverse was no longer engaging, went to the dealer and they repair the tranny and this problem was gone.

Cheers

I got it the first time, sounds like the tranny is in need of some TLC

Oh, this thing about the door bell is REALLY funny! Although I remember when I was a kid staying home from school I did something similar to my sister. She didn't know I was home when she got in so I hid around a wall and jumped out and screamed at her. She didn't react, she just fainted! Well, to this day (about 20 years later) she always checks behind walls and stuff before she enters a room. Oopss, sorry sis...I'll pay for the therapy!

Hmm, our A4 1.8t quattro does the same thing, but at low speeds (5-10mph) only. I'll be driving along and suddenly... BLAM! the whole car jumps forward, feeling like I was just hit from behind. Took it to the dealer twice, and they can't find anything wrong with it.
