Throttle Body Question

I was re-installing my injen intake today when I noticed that there is a ring of black gunk around the edge of the throttle body (if this is even called the TB) I was wondering if this is normal or not. The car has 26k miles on it.

yup put a towel under the tb so it drips onto it. spray a ton of it in there...throw your intake back on real fast..and try to start the car..it'll take a lil while..but when it fires up...stomp on the gas! you'll see all this black smoke come out your exhaust...

No problem..actually the best time to do it is....a few days b4 your oil change...also grab a Big bottle of Chevron Techron Fuel treatment..and dump it in when your on 1/2 tank..and run it dry...then clean your T/B...then drive it a lil..and then change your oil..that way you get alot of the gunk out of your TB..clean your engine out...and put fresh oil

Whoa... sounds like I got some planning to do. Thanks for the advice Larry. If I don't have the time i'll just use the "it's a leased car, so who cares" speech that my dad says.

only 10 more months till it all ends!!!

it might work well but it would be a b!tch to drop a toothbrush into the intake manifold. that would really blow trying to get it out and with luck its gonna get stuck too. ill just stick with the TB spray. no offense to u or ur method im just sayin it would suck to drop it by mistake, hey **** happens.
