Anti-Static shock Strap Help

Ok - I've had it with getting zapped everytime I get out of my car!

I've decided to attach a grounding strap to the underside of my car to ground-out the chassis and discharge all the static build-up.

Anyone have any good ideas on WHAT kind of material TO USE for this????
Of course I want it to be as invisible as possible and "stealthy", but I don't want to have to have any high-maintenance device either.

Was thinking of shopping the electrical dept. at home depot for ideas, but I'm open to suggestion if anyone has had success with this.

STOP THE SHOCK!

Re: Anti-Static shock Strap Help

you can buy one of these straps at just about any car store.

but, why not just do what I do? I got in the habit of putting my hand on the door sill as I swing my legs out, then touching the rear door as I stand. Just a tap as you move will do it.

you're accumulating static as you move around in the seat so if you ground yourself to the car while you're getting out you'll be fine.

edit: just searched... these guys almost all agree with me:

Shocked

.....2k2wannabe -->>

Cause I never think about it THAT much -- that's the point....I don't want to think about it!

Besides, it's a fun experiment in electrical currents - and my car can have a nice tampon string hanging from the undercarriage!!

Re: Shocked

I don't think about it either, it's just habit. I didn't notice I was doing it until someone sat in the back seat behind me and he asked me why I touched the door when I got out.

I read somewhere that if you can do something consistently for 2 weeks it becomes habit, and if you want to stop you have to *try*. See if you can do it for 2 weeks... if not, put your Max on the... well, you said it.
