A couple things here...

1. a new car is NEVER an investment it is a depreciating asset

2. what do you consider a 'good car'? Base performance? Style? Resale? Comfort? etc, etc, etc

3. SEARCH will set you free

Is it a good investment? In short no.

Do you want a great car? '03 max! Find a new '02 for less.

My $.02

Completely agree with the investment advice although clearly the person wants to know if 03 Max's are good cars to mod. Given the limited availability of aftermarket performance parts I would say no. You are better off with an 00 or 01 where a turbo or s/c is available.

I would say the 03 is a great car out of the box. But I wouldn't go into one wanting to mod it because there is really nothing available. Plus it is FWD.

IMO, get a used 00 or 01 with low miles and is just out of factory warranty. What's the point of modding a car and have to go through hoops getting it back to stock for a factory claim?
